Official NYU 2013 Transfer Thread

Can’t wait for stern to give out some news … I haven’t heard from the admissions office at all , last time I called ( a week ago) they said my application was complete and ready for review.

Anyone here from stern yet? For those who were rejected did you receive email? Was Albert any different?

Ok, so everyone is waiting…tick tock NYU!

So everyone I assume saw this on the NYU Blog on May 9th:

While our freshman class is currently full, we anticipate having some vacancy at NYU in the event other colleges and universities go to their own wait lists early this summer. As a result, we made the decision to admit exactly 187 students from our wait list in the last 48 hours. We will likely admit a few dozen additional students in the coming weeks, but I will provide a more concrete update as soon as any additional admission decisions are released.

We have begun the process of notifying transfer applicants of their admission decisions. Please understand that transfer admission decisions at NYU are made as space allows so we admit transfer students on a rolling basis throughout late spring/early summer and not on one common notification date like we do for freshman applicants.

While we have started to notify transfer applicants of their admission decisions, many students will not receive their admission decision until late May/early June as we continue to determine how many spaces we will have available at NYU this fall.

For those still waiting, we greatly appreciate your patience.

At this point, considering my other offers, I have don’t have any intention of going to NYU but I am still curious to see what they say

That is very interesting from the blog. Can you paste the link? It isn’t really very helpful since each NYU school seems to follow their own rules, other than knowing that we are still at the no-news-is-good-news status.

if NYU wasn’t my top choice, I would be too. hoping that since they’ve updated my Albert yesterday they will post my decision tomorrow. stay strong everyone!!! I’m going a little
crazy waiting but whether we get in or not, these colleges will
never define our success.
sending positive vibes out to all!

Totally agree! Stay strong, guys! Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting!

@searising
College GPA: 3.7
SAT: 2210
I don’t think I’m a very good example because I wrote really weird essays about how I dropped out of high school. I got rejected from every other school I applied to, I’m assuming because of my questionable past. Maybe Gallatin saw my potential!

More decisions coming today! Good luck guys.
I’m very happy I got into BU, but I can’t wait to find out about NYU… We’re waiting for so long, let’s not give up now! :)

Just a question… so those who have been accepted already, they were the strongest applicants? then those of us still waiting are not their top choice?

Here’s the link to the blog [NYU Admissions Blog | Behind the scenes at NYU](<a href=“MEET NYU - Home”>http://admissionsblog.nyu.edu/)

@bosbr100 That is what all schools do. They skim applications and start organizing their class based on who they really want and those that are average, and those that aren’t getting in. Those transfer students they really want, depending on the school, they often will make special arrangements for them. Call them on the phone to notify them of their decision. Write specialized admission letters for them. Notify them of their decision early. All sorts of special admission processes to entice them to study at their university. Some people have already been offered admission at Stern because they worry about losing them to another school, count on it, they just don’t post here.

well not me. stern :/

Overlord you got denied?

Accepted to Gallatin at 9:06!!!

Hey all. Just wanted to let you know that I was rejected from Steinhardt today. Hopefully the following info will help future applicants.

I have a 3.4 from a top 50 university and a 2040 SAT (M580/CR700/W780) which isn’t as high as most NYU hopefuls I’m sure. The reason I thought I had a chance at being competitive was because of my experience the past two years. I was applying to global health as a junior. After my sophomore year at another top 50 university I decided to take time off. I was lucky to get a fulltime job at a global health consulting firm and then I got a fellowship to do HIV research abroad with a major research organization. When it comes down to it seems that it really is about the numbers/your grades/stats when competing for a spot in undergrad. Anyway, hope this shed some light for others. Also just want to say that after working in my desired field for a few years I’ve come to realize that “going to your ‘dream school’” is a lot less important than it seems when you’re all caught up in the world of academia! Good luck to everyone and congrats to those admitted!

I have to disagree with @NTCollege on the importance of grades. Maybe in Tisch they are less important than in other majors, and that’s where I was accepted, not waitlisted even, but I think people still believe it’s -just- about numbers and that’s not always the case. I had a 3.4 GPA in high school. I took two AP tests that I got 2 and 3 on. And I scored 1600 on my SAT, all 3 sections included. I did improve my GPA to 3.83 in college and had a great letter of rec, thoughtful essays and a strong portfolio, but my HS numbers are still low. Buttom line? There are exceptions to the rule.

I hate Tuesdays and Thursdays… I got anxious and then nothing happens =/ OMG i need a decision

does anybody mind posting what the acceptance and rejection email looks like?

Man, I’m still waiting on gallatin  think there will be responses through out the day?

@littlemiss30 first of all congrats!!! you are very lucky!! Do you remember when you submitted your application? Also Do you mind sharing if you applied for aid?
