chance me please? applying for cas econ major
hs gpa: 2.9 (briefly explained/hinted as to the low gpa in essay)
college gpa: 3.2 overall. 3.4/3.5 with only acceptable credits (did very poorly in one of my class due to unusual circumstance, but overall As and Bs. retaking that one class this semester and has an A so far) 3.8 last fall and midterm of 3.9
recommendation: one decent and one okay i think (one of my professors who i had a great relationship took early vacation)
EC: a few decent positions for work, clubs, dean’s list, trained and has been daytrading.
great essay and better supplements (from my counselor’s perspective)
not applying for fin aid (if that changes anything)

i feel like i’m on the lower end of the spectrum number wise, so i just wanna be realistic. any chances of acceptance?

im an international student so I sent in my ielts score instead (8.0 out of 9). yeah i feel like my overallgpa is pretty darn low too. had a nightmarish freshman spring semester and ended up failing one of my courses. otherwise, i’ve been getting all As and Bs.

my status still shows they haven’t received my high school and college transcript…but when i called today, the lady on the phone said those materials were received, but it might take weeks to be shown online. how abt you guys?

@josephyang There’s no rules against uploading and linking it on here since it’s relevant to the forum and is not spam by any means. I’m sure many people would appreciate it.

@reallyrosie Your resume is amazing but your internship is the hook-line-and-sinker. I think you’re chances are pretty good. I’d emphasize the most on your internship experience rather than you being in kayaking club or even an officer in your sorority. Sororities aren’t that big in the north and are basically non-existent at NYU (they have them but they are more like clubs than traditional sororities).

Guys, I just called NYU and I was told they are not doing status check until Monday, May 1st. She also said that what most happens is that all the materials are still on the large pile of files waiting to be processed.
She said any material that is missing, NYU will contact you and give extra time to send it again. And decisions will start to be posted on May on a rolling basis… which I guess is bad for many people, since the deadlines to commit to the other schools is May 1st.

I submitted both my HS and College transcript on the same day, so I guess NYU must have it. It has been a month and a half now and my college transcript was just checked off today, but not my HS transcript yet…

So yes, it might take forever for NYU to process all the materials and if you wanna check, call them starting on Monday and they will likely check your status…
Let’s keep our fingers crossed then!

NYU is by far my top choice, but from all the other six schools I applied to, NYU is the one making me crazy hahaha not knowing whether or not they received all your materials is so annoying… it’s worse than just waiting for an answer… well, let’s hope they have everything there and are just late with their process…

Both my college and HS were missing from the very beginning and then a week or so ago my college one got checked off but my HS transcript is still missing. All my other colleges got them and the HS transcript was sent the earliest, JANUARY 15TH!!!
UGH

Does anyone have on their app checklist that their “notification plan” is “regular decision”?
It really had me confused thinking that they were going to notify me like regular decision applicants…

^ they contacted me for my midterm report, so I assume they’ll do the same for every applicant. Just for reference, I submitted my application on 3/6.

My daughter transferred to NYU last fall. Here is our experience which may help you know what to expect. Her HS transcript was sent in October. After resending it 3 times, the registrar from her high school called NYU in April and was told they had it. It never was checked off in Albert. Same with the ACT score. (ironically they had both things already as she had been previously accepted.) She received specific emails for missing items and was given time to send them. But it was late, as in early May. She and her college were contacted regarding the missing transcript at that point. The decisions came out in mid may, as I recall. Good luck to you all, and enjoy your spring wherever you are. Obsessively checking Albert will only worry you needlessly. If they need something, they will ask you for it.

quilll, thanks for sharing that! I guess everyone experiences a problem with the Albert portal then! I will relax for now and hope NYU will do what they need to do :)

alowbryant, i got my username and password about 5 days after I submitted the common app. If it has been a few days and you haven’t got yours, I would check with NYU.
