Official NYU 2013 Transfer Thread

@alowbryant do you mind sharing your stats?

@alowbryant I’m in the same boat as you. Like bosbr100 said, it’ll probably take a little while to process everything–maybe even longer now that it’s the deadline and they’re probably getting swamped with paperwork. I sent in everything on Wednesday, so I’m still holding out a few more days before contacting anyone.

I submitted my common app and NYU supplement on Feb 27th, and HS transcript as well as college transcript were sent in the first week of February, but only Common app and NYU Supp are checked off on Albert. When I called on March 15, the lady on the phone said all of my materials are received but it takes time to process…It’s just too long

I also applied to five other schools, and NYU is the only one taking forever to process… oh why… are they trying to make us go nuts?

Is anyone else also on a May 1st deadline to other schools?
Since we will not hear back from NYU before that… I guess many people, like me, will put down the deposit for other schools and later find out whether or not we were accepted into NYU…

@alowbryant, I’m not an expert, but I think if you clearly showed them some improvement from the last time you applied, it wouldn’t hurt you!

I don’t think the May 1st deposit applies to transfers

@Rain202, for one of my schools it is May 1st =/ I think depends on the school…

Hi guys,

I am so sad to let your guys know that i got the rejection notification just 10 mints ago.

@alowbryant

Is this some sick April Fool’s Day joke?

yeah, waiting is killing me

Can anyone here answer my questions? I’ve made a thread with no luck.

i read online that we needed 32 credits to transfer as a freshman transfer (for next year). Is that only from college or high school? Or both?
Do they even look at high school grades?
Do i need to resubmit old SAT scores or retake it? And do i need to rewrite my supplements?
And about how many people apply to College of Arts and Science as a freshman transfer, how many are accepted?

Please please please help me!

The 32 credits are only from college

Yes, they require a high school transcript, so I’m (+) that they look at your HS grades

You don’t have to retake the SAT. Just resubmit your old scores. If you have 32+ credits by the time you transfer, I’m pretty sure they said its not mandatory to send them in.

No one is forcing you to rewrite your supplements, so if you don’t want to then don’t…

And sorry I don’t know the stats but acceptance rate for transfers was somewhere between 30% - 40%

is there anyone who still dont have the albert username?

Is acceptance rate for transfer around 30% to 40%? I thought it was around 15 or something haha I’m glad I was wrong… even though I don’t feel I have a high chance to get in…

[I appreciate any help, thx!!!]

I started as full-time freshman student in a US university and I’m an international student. I came to US in August 2012 for college education from my homeland. If I plan to transfer to NYU as junior, do I need to take TOEFL test???

it’s better if you can find official source to support your idea!!!THANKS FOR ANSWERING !!

I am international student too, yeah. It’s required to provide Toefl score

Hi all, so I’m getting some conflicting information.

On this site: [Transfer Applicants](<a href=“Transfer Applicants”>Transfer Applicants) , it states that we need a minimum of 32 credits in order to transfer.

However, under the additional program requirements for Stern (which I am applying to) [Additional Program Requirements](<a href=“Transfer Applicants”>Transfer Applicants) , it states that we only need 30-32 credits.

I’m currently a freshman who is in the process of completing a 31 credit school year (I have taken 5 full classes each semester, the maximum amount unless if I overload). Will I be at a disadvantage?

Can anyone chance me please? Looking to transfer to Stern as a junior.

SAT: 2270/2400 (CR:720 M:800 W:750)
SATIIs: Math2 800, Physics 800, Chemistry 800
5’s on 5 AP exams

College GPA: 89/100 (85+ is an A at my institution (Canadian university); however using the 4.0 scale I would only have 3.795 (assuming A+ and A translate to 4, A- is 3.7, B+ is 3.3 and B is 3 etc…) because I have top marks in certain classes while mediocre marks in others; the way they convert percentage average to the 4.0 scale is my main concern)

Courses: intro to probability (a calculus based class), advanced calculus, some honors econ courses, real analysis I, accounting, marketing, diff equations, first year writing etc.

Key ECs: ibanking internship, treasurer at a club in college, president of investment club at HS.

Any input would be appreciated!

@sterniewannabe, I’m also an international student attending college here and yes, it is required! It’s clearly stated on their website

And I have no idea about chances =/ From last year’s trend, I think NYU is so unpredictable…

@bobsbr100
thx and good luck:)
