Official NYU Early Decision Thread!

Someone from my school got a GSP letter today!

Every school GSPs, but if I understand correctly, CAS and Stern do at a higher rate.

NYU DOES NOT send admissions decision emails to US applicants. They only go out to international applicants. This is not speculation, it's a fact I found on the NYU board.

tunit2190, what state do you live in?

ylin - central NJ. represent.

Well, I guess I've got to apply to a bunch more colleges now. I think I might go to Bing. for a year or two and then transfer. I'm just really upset that not only am I a white jew, which unless you are applying to MIT is the worst race/nationality to be, but I come from one of the most competetive and rich towns in the country. Almost all the kids here have connections to the top colleges and/or give massive donations. Also, top colleges put quotas on how many kids they take from my town. For instance, in my grade no one is getting into Columbia based on merit. Columbia hates us and there are already 3 or 4 kids with massive connections there. Other IVs like Cornell loves us and takes about 30 kids each year. This is why even though I know that my grades are better than most applying to CAS it really sucks for me. I should've just applied to Steinhardt b/c NYU's undergrad. music program sucks and all I would have had to do was blow my sax a little for them.

...you're turning down gsp? yo almost everyone here would love to be GSPed. That's why we ED for NYU.

GSP is like community college. Look, I wanted to take Pre-med with health administration and I can't do that with the GSP requirements. It's like going to high school all over again in remedial classes.

is that necessary quark...I know your'e disappointed, and it looks like you have sound reasons for turning it down, but OUCH

My son will be thrilled if he gets GSP'd.

Yo I'd Be Thrilled To Be Gsped!

I still don't understand Quark's reasoning...

you can do pre-med in GSP!

believe me, i looked into it already

I'd be overjoyed to be you! Anyway, yeah, check out the GSP website, if you haven't already-they have a special track for those who were planning on going Pre-Med. You get a ton of your sciences and maths over with in the program, and then, back in CAS, you can complete your major.

I'm sorry you're so upset, though.

The person who got gsped from my school has the following information...

NJ resident
Sat's 2000s
Rank: 50s out of 300
White Jewish Male

Hey guys!!
I'm from Taiwan, and I got my acceptance letter from NYU yesterday!(CAS)
Actually I went directly to UPS and got it b/c I couldn't wait till Monday...I was sooooooooooooooo nervous.
I'm excited now,but I have an big exam next week =(
ahahahahah I don't feel like studying now...

Anyway,
GOOD LUCK to all of you!!! =]

BTW,there are two Official NYU ED Threads now...where should we post?
or just combine them?

My son is a soph in GSP. He begins CAS next semester (had AP credits from HS). He preferred the small classes he had in GSP to those his friends had in other schools at NYU. You can study just about anything you'ld like out of the GSP program including pre-med. One would be foolish to turn down the opportunity for some perceived inferiority of the program that you might hear about. The fact is that NYU will being allowing direct application into GSP in the near future. Those who go thru the GSP program are happy they did. Don't make the decision without thouroughly checking it out.

My heart is like a bird trapped in a cage. I can feel it plowing into my chest.

at this point, i dont even care about getting in anymore.
i just want the letter so i can put my mind to ease.

I got into GSP but I applied to CAS...

white female from NJ

i'm pretty sure that if I get in GSP, i'm definitely going :D
