I heard a rumor that acceptences were mailed tuesday, and rejections mailed yesterday. That better not be true.

Eh if you want a glimmer of hope, mail is definitely backed up due to the inclement weather in the NYC area

Yes, even in Long Island, the weather is really bad. So much hail.

I almost got into a car accident today. No less than a half hour ago. My car swirved across the roads, and my breaks did not work, I soared past the cars in front of me, past the stop sign, so many close calls, I was so sure that I would hit something, and I even came to accept it. But my car eventually stopped at the curb, no damage, and everybody was alright...

But still no letter from NYU.

HI.
I'm freaking out, like cold sweats, seizures and all that good stuff. I applied ED to CAS and I still haven't heard (I live in PA). Please, please, please tell me this isn't a bad sign? I already checked the mail today -- nothing. This is killing me!!!

The majority of people have not heard, so I wouldn't fret yet.

Take a deep breath and a bubble bath.
=]

it's killing me too! nothing came in the mail today. I saw two big white envelopes, but they were for my father.
i know, i know, we should just relax, but it's not as easy as it sounds! i know two people so far from CT who have gotten in today, and one from philadelphia. ughgh i live in CT, but farther away from the city than they do. but it's always good to hope that we still got in. dates don't always matter. even if we don't get in, there will be other people on this site who didn't get in either, so we'll be able to share our grief with each other. but hopefully instead of crying we'll all be celebrating!!

Wow where in CT do you live... I go to boarding school in PA... but I'm really from Old Lyme, CT

i'm from waterford. that's really close to old lyme! cool!!

Seriously? WOW! 15 minutes away... Well, I was just talking to my friend, who is a Freshman in CAS at NYU this year (she came from my high school), and he recieved her acceptance letter (ED) last year on December 12th, which was a Thursday (which would be today), and she's telling me to calm down and wait until tomorrow, lol.

haha yea. where'd you apply? CAS? i applied to Steinhardt.

has anyone heard from Virginia?
I applied to Steinhardt for instrumental performance. anyone heard?

I applied to CAS.

cool, well good luck!

With the exception of one person (who is not bright at all), everyone in my school have been accepted to their first choice schools...I'm the only one who hasn't heard back from NYU who applied ED to CAS. 6 girls already got in, and I'm the only guy...does this help my chances? NYU favors girls - Fact. Over 70% of NYU students last year were girls, and I think it's been that way for a while.

madgal89: i applied to steinhardt too for music ed. and i didnt get anything. and im from VA, southern Virginia, basically the border of North Carolina.

hopefully tomorrow?

my friend got her's today...she applied to steinhardt and lives in Mass.

nyu favoring girls is an incorrect statement. its more likely that girls like nyu more than guys do and since colleges are all about giving everyone an equal chance its more likely that guys have a better chance to try to even out the girl/guy ratio

I agree, I think that being a male puts you at an advatage - I don't think NYU would overlook the fact that there was such an obvious majority of females last year, and are probably looking to admit more males this year. Also, NYU favors diversity, correct? Well, I am 1/2 Japanese, 1/2 Scottish/Irish/English (mut). However, on my NYU applications I put my race as White (since that is what was claimed on my birth certificate), and put Asian/Pacific Islander on my College Board SATs. Do you think this will alter my chances?
