Official NYU ED thread!

Luckily my finals aren't until after break. I'm going to have my counselor call tomorrow though.

They can do that?! Then again, I never really made my counselor break much of a sweat.

I'm waiting until Tuesday. If I don't hear by then, I'm going to ask my counselor to give NYU a call.

because i live so far and it seems like most people who live close haven't heard

I totally agree Adam. I cant even focus on studying for my exams!

I don't understand this theory that "since you haven't gotten a letter yet, it must mean you didn't get in". That whole "they send the rejections after the acceptances" sounds like a heap of bull to me. Sometimes mail is just late. It doesn't matter where you live--its just the post office being damn lazy.

We are all just desperate and anxious!

anyone from midwest hear yet?

Sorry I wasn't trying to sound accusatory, I'm just saying, relinquish the negativity! You should be hoping not dreading!

You guys will be fine!

sigh my boyfriend received his acceptance to cas yesterday. I am just breaking down..

By the way, is it possible to get into nyu CAS with a 1760 and high average and lots of ECs and excellent essays?

The only problem is my sat :(

p.s. I wasn't considered for HEOP. NYU said I was viewed as a regular applicant. :(

why? Did you meet the income eligibility?

Maybe they thought you would do fine academically in NYU without the HEOP program?

think positive =]

cantochickk: of course it's possible! it's been said over and over again, the NYU admissions process is pretty holistic (God this word is becoming a cliche) compared to most schools of its size. Granted, test scores are important, they're not the only thing! You said yourself you have a high average and excellent ECs. Personally, I think GPA is the "make-or-break" aspect. Don't get down on yourself, a lot of us are in the same boat. We all have at least one weakness and a whole lot of strengths.

cantochickk: were in the same boat. :) i, too, have a 1760. dont worry, were not competeing, though, im applied to tisch. im hoping my act of 27 (which is by no means impressive for nyu standards) and the rest of my application will make up for it.

nothing in FL today

I need that letter...its not even funny anymore. It's gotten to a point where I don't even know that I care if I get rejected, I just need to know!!

....ok I don't wanna get rejected, but pleeeeeaaaase let tomorrow be the day!!!

Wicked, you and I both! I'm sick of crying myself to sleep wondering, getting nauseaous at the thought of getting rejected, and having to hear people optimistically tell me that I'll get in when they have no idea of how hard it is. I JUST WANT TO KNOW SO I CAN MOVE ON.

Has anyone else received really big white envelopes from other colleges encouraging you to apply in January? On Friday, when I went to check my mail, I saw a big white envelope with my name on it. Naturally, my nearly crapped out my kidneys, but upon further inspection found it to be a letter from the University of Toronto. Saturday (when I REALLY thought it was going to come) lo and behold, after nearly seven hours of waiting for my inept mailwoman who delivered the mail four and a half hours late, I found yet another large, white envelope. This time from Trinity College. This is absolute agony.

YES to both of you. It's going to be so hard getting through school tomorrow.

I haven't received those, but on Thursday I DID get a pack to apply for the NYU summer program. I nearly killed the poor mailman.
