Official NYU RD Roster 2010

baklava, what school in Plano do you go to?

this thread represents everyone way above average

the average NYU applicant probably looks like this
SAT: ~2000
SAT II: 650,650
ACT: 28-29
GPA: 3.6

Somehow, I highly doubted. A kid from my school applied early to CAS who ranked 8/245 was flat out rejected. Though his 1770 sat score definitely hurt him.

yea a 1770 def. would hurt. enough for rejection.

average 2000???? Mines more like 1960. That writing section really hurt me.

I wouldn't believe what stonecold is saying if I was you. The average HAS to be a lot higher.

Nevermind, the average APPLICANT probably does have that kind of stats. But the average acceptance HAS to be a lot higher.

SAT: 2060 (1380 old)
SAT II: 760/680/660
GPA: 3.4 uw, 3.91 w (ahh)
above avg EC's; i've had 3 years of internships, currently interning yearlong at NIH.
School: CAS
Personal: asian female from MD, first generation krnamerican.

SAT: 700/650/610
SAT II: 620/550 (EFFING DEPRESSING...)
GPA: 4.3 weighted (I don't know uw)
Essays: haven't started yet, still thinking about what to write.
Recs: Should be fine but not stellar
School: CAS
Korean first generation (not living w/ parents)

i think stonecold might be write though
these stats are really high for the average NYU applicant
this is maybe because this is collegeconfidential.com, notorious for having high stat kids depress over their "low" stats and worry over how they can't get in with a 2200+ SAT score

I meant *right

lol.. even so ppl with amazing stats get rejected ;</p>

exactly, biggyboy.

I've seen people with 1500+ get rejected at people with 1800's got in. So I'm telling you, this is not strictly a number's game. So it would be cool to stop focusing on numbers. They want to see you as a person, how you think, what you value, who YOU ARE. And there are so many things that you know you put down on your application that you don't share with the board, so basically all this is bogus because no one is going to be able to predict anything.

I agree w/ you micheeatsfish, but I don't think is "basically all bogus". We're just putting down our stats and seeing later who will and wont get in. I don't think we're here to judge, at least I'm not.

I apologize h20online, I dont mean to say this thread is bogus, because you're right its not a "chances" thread. It is a thread to see who is applying and then see who gets in or not, which i think would be entertaining/surprising to read, but not at all helpful. I mean its not as if someone who has the same SAT score as your or gpa, that somehow you think you'll get in. Its not like that. Its completely luck of the draw. But what i meant to say is, all the posts/threads that have been asking about 'chances' and basically 'can i get in' and then they list their facts...i think THAT is what is all bogus. I hope i made myself clear.

in no way is this to offend anyone's opinions but..
from what i've read and been researching from everyone accepted/rejected is that NYU is infact big in numbers. and who could blame them, getting 30000+ applications a year.. i think GPA and SATs count the most.. everything else matters, i suppose, but they do not weigh as much as those two factors.

if you read past threads theres alot of people who got accepted with <3.5 but 1450+ over those with great GPAs but not as high SATs.

this is just what i think.. of course i don't like it (i have a high GPA but avg test scores) so don't think i'm one of those people with high SATs or anything..

i'm sure ecs/essays/recs count, but those probably come into place if you are applying to a certain major or you really have done something exceptional in your community.

and i do love nyu.. i'm just as scared for april as you guys are.

maybe we are soulmates mich, that does stand for michelle..right..

applicant06, you haven't offended me in any way. I think I've repeated quite many times, but what you're saying is for a large part very true. With over 3500o applications/yr I don't think they'll put much emphasis on essays/recs. I wonder how much NYU admin officers spend on e/ person's app. It really wouldn't be fair for the bad test takers w/ good gpas and stellar ecs. There's too many applicants w/ 2100+ these days it sickens me. I think people who worry so much like us deserve to be accepted. ha~

I worry all the time too...does that mean I should be accepted? I hope so..
