for the marriage passage, what were the other choices for the question that had a choice of "she provided an explanation that was not needed"

Walden comparison passages
--Author would say that isn't how teachers use the text
--Behaviour was atypical for Thoreau
--Passage 1 Author would say train ruined nature's tranquility

Africa and America
--Broad generalizations
--Cultural ties between two nations
--Unsubstantiated for the shadows question.
--Doubt to pride

Ada King
--Purpose was to examine Ada King's popularity, etc.
--Author would disagree that Ada's parent had nothing to do with her fame.

Mona Lisa
--Author of Passage 1 would add "mouth"
--Leo's quote was to characterize a technique
--"innate" to express doubt in a theory
--Passage 1 is to explain art technique, 2 examines its popularity
--The passage about the real Mona woman shows humble --> important

City and Ecosystems
--Cliff talk = Appreciation for city ecosystem
--Tree/Building comparison = <<<human endeavors limited naturally?
--Dams and anthills are like buildings = it is natural instinct
--3 pieces of evidence = arguments to support fundamental claim

Ms. Keeplar
--"Romantic" means unconventional outlook
--Hands to the heavens --> Bleak future
--Won't marry guy because of his RECKLESS behaviour
--Response to celibacy question = refusal to answer
--Uncle and Girl have IRRECOLANCIABLE differences
--Uncle and Girl agree = She shouldn't marry an undignified man

i wrote profile, but im 95% sure that im wrong. it makes more "sense" than mouth (which a pretty awkward choice), but profile=side view so I think mouth is a better answer.

Yeah, considering the photo of the Mona Lisa ISN'T FROM A PROFILE VIEW.

was reckless behavior for the Ms.Keeplar passage "A"?

Does anyone remember the Thoreau question to which the answer was atypical?

And yeah, the profligacy / reckless one was A.

it's definitely the human endeavors one, not self-regulating

caesar, don't be so hasty to discredit yourself, because SAT's completely disregard past knowledge. Portrait also has a lot of other defs other than side view you know...

withonevoice.. it was how would the author of passage one respond to the "enthusiasm" described in passage 2

withonevoice, various people have explained multiple times that the "nation" answer makes sense when you look at the actual definition of nation, not the "common person" definition of nation.

It might not be the best answer, but it's not incorrect.

Obviously it can't be correct if it's not the right answer.

Cliff talk = Appreciation for city ecosystem

for this I put that he was (don't remember the word, but indifferent) In the passage is was something like "to us it merely represents a change from a forest ecosystem to a cliffside ecosystem"...it just doesn't seem appreciative, more neutral..anybody have an opinion?
exactly what i was thinking when i bubbled indifferent/neutral or whatever it was... but i dont really do so well on cr so i wouldnt count on it.

and to answer this question,
how come nobody is talking about the democracy passage?

was that experimental?
yes it was, and i soooooooo predicted that it would be DURING the test. man im good....

The atypical one was where the guy from passage 2 took the quote out of context.

Was self-regulating a different choice from the capacity to grow?

didn't passage one of the two passages list somethign about hands and stuff? and you had to compare the smile to that? This is why I picked smile...

And also, can someone please explain the mona lisa humble/important answer? Was that B or E because I remember putting something with the word aesthetic in it

i put was "significance of an ongoing relationship.."

treebounder, i hope that what i put was right, but it was PROFILE not portrait. If it was portrait, i would have definitely gone for it, cause it sounds MUCH better than both choices lol.

withonevoice: Actually, it can be. The SAT asks for the "best" answer, so even though others might make sense, there's one that makes the MOST sense.

Don't be so catty. It's just the SAT.

dragon- i think it was b, but im not sure. i think e was something that had to due with beauty/aesthetic appearance.

I'm not being catty. Africa isn't a nation.

DancinDragon, I think we resolved around page 23 or something like that that the one with "aesthetic" in it was correct.
