**Official Oct ACT Reading Section**

I put taste as fondness. @sun

I put fondness… It wasn’t flavor for sure.

I put depth instead of breadth O_o

I was looking for width… And it wasn’t there so I thought of depth… But I was sure width and depth aren’t the same and I wasn’t sure what breadth meant… But I put breadth cause I knew it couldn’t have been depth… And I guess breadth means width cause I looked it up after lol

Oh oops. I did put breadth T_T

are you sure it said “after cromwell’s death”? i didnt see a after, maybe i’m just ■■■■■■■■ :)

He answer WAS breadth! Lol and yes there was an after

Compilated answers that I got:

Joanna/Sylvia:

  • Shows 2 generalizations but only answer half of it (didnt answer how they grew close at maturity)
-Joanna thinks that direct consequences produce direct results or something
-Dad says that you can do what you want if you take action and work for it, within reason
    -Brothers enjoy chores

WHAT WAS THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION:

2 - Everything is mentioned in the passage EXCEPT:

Answer???
I put either B or C - teacher’s quotation

I put down shows a paradox -> complex family relations for Joanna/Sylvia, I was stuck between that and the 2 generalizations  anyone else have some input?

I put teachers quote, but wasn’t sure. Would be too cynical if they considered Joel a teacher, although fathers do teach. Forgot the other options.

I put teacher’s quote as well because it wasn’t in the passage.

I put teacher’s quotation and for the other one I put “complex family relations”, but I realize that it actually might be 2 generalizations.

CGdaBes - I don’t think that the main idea was regarding complex family relations. I put the 2 generalizations but only dicusses one and checked it - made sense! The passage only discusses how they clashed but not how they were basically best friends once matured.

Did anyone else put that the main idea of the passage was to analyze Joanna in context of her family and neighborhood?

I put that. ^

Here is the Joanna passage. Read it and it will clear up any questions. The 2 generalizations seems to be the correct answer.

[There Is Confusion - Jessie Redmon Fauset - Google Books](There is Confusion - Jessie Redmon Fauset - Google Books)

I, too, put teachers quotes but what were the other answers choices? this for the Joanna passage, right?

also, which passage was the taste=fondness from???

Here were my passages on 72A:
there is confusion – Passage about Joanna and her sister Sylvia

  1. How did she feel about folk songs? she like all of them
  2. Her dancing was spontaneous and a contrast to her other side ( something like that)
  3. What did her brothers like to do? chores
  4. Something about her dad Joel’s changed financial status? Showing her that she no limits or something
  5. Why does Maggie say, “if you want to see Joanna play…”? WHAT WAS THE ANSWER?
  6. How did Joanna do her chores? Very well but with the hopes of doing something more meaningful later on
  7. What is the purpose of the 3rd paragraph? It was something about the differences between the 2 sisters. It was NOT to introduce the differences because it talked about that in the second paragraph
  8. What is the main idea of this passage?
  9.

2.2 How were coffeehouses diff from taverns?

2.6 To show different opposing viewpoints

2.8 He didn’t want rumors and plots to overthrow his government

the “soot of syrup” definitely reflected a critics view of the time
the businessmen didnt like that coffee shop because it was competition
they liked coffee shops over taverns because they were more respectable
the book did not mention coffee pricings
the passages purpose was to give info about coffee’s history

I couldnt decide whether charles feared government officials talking smack about him in coffee shops and there was another one where i put something about a government overthrow in 1675? <—does anyone know what im talking about

^government overthrow in 1675 was correct.
