Official October ACT Science Thread

cannot be determined is the answer… it didn’t have enough info

@mabs: if it said just the average of all the trees, then yes its the answer. If it just asked about the trees from 1981, the “light” was the answer…I’m trying to see if anyone remembers what it specifically asked for…I wish I had payed more attention to the question

I’m pretty sure it asked from 1981

i remember being like *** you cant do this… i could be wrong tho. im pretty sure it didnt ask about 1 year

somene posted these before :

22% for frog
cannot be determined
biker A chart = dotted sloping up
mountain building (wrong probs)

can someone tell me which questions they were answers to?

whatever you guys are talking about, i have no clue but if its the one where the majority of trees on that table, its light because majority are below 30

I don’t think it’s cannot be determined, can someone post the question though, I forgot

does anyone remember if the question about the tree deforestation was specifically asking about 1981?

I remember it did because I started at the pie chart for that question for soo long

i think it was 1981. and what was the question for the “mountain biking” answer

wait, what cannot be determined

because for that question i did determine something

what was the question

in figure 2

it said 0-30% was like mild

40-50% was mild
50+ was bad

then on figure 3 they showed the values

you had to use figure 2’s info alongside of figure 3s to determine the answer to that question

most were mild (or moderate whichever was the better)

^ are you saying it was moderate or light? It was light, moderate, high, or cannot be determined

it was light

definately

on figure 2 it said that 0-38% or someting meant light

and in figure 3, just about all of them was below 40%

it was light, it was kind of a trick question [required you to look at figure 2 as well]

What about the question on methane that asked about the process described by Student 1?

I didn’t even know what some of the answer choices meant. I guessed on that one, and put weathering.

^Weathering is done by wind and water, isn’t it? I put metamorphosis since the lava or whatever changed into serpentine

for the one everyone is saying “cannot be determined”, i found the pie chart with the most heavy and moderate foliage deterioration percentages, it had 53% light, 24% heavy, 23% moderate, and that was 1981, and they asked for 10 years after that because it peaks every 10 years, so i put 1991, im pretty sure about this.

I put 1991 as well

^ I put it as well

The 1991 question is not the question being debated. I believe the question being debated is the one where the answer is light (or cannot be determined).

What was the question where the answer is 22%? I can’t remember any question like this. Can someone tell me a little more about it. Thanks!

^ I don’t remember that question either…22 sounds familiar, but I just can’t remember the question
