Haha, ■■■■■!

Unless if Invasiondays wrote his essay about being gay theres no way the admissions office would be able to tell. Although there might be a box that asks you to identify your race nowhere do they ask you to identify your sexual orientation.

and smh DidIMakeAMistake

This is a thread about Vassar decisions not about politics.

Invasiondays also had a 97.1 gpa, and even his SATs weren’t that low.

I don’t agree with the gay thing.

I haven’t received my official rejection, but it says invalid login so I’m pretty sure I’m rejected. My stats were ok but nothing amazing
GPA: UW: 3.88
W: 4.54
ACT: 31 Superscored (which vassar does)

True, I had some things against me. I’m 16 and graduating hs in only 3 years, i don’t know if they viewed that negatively. i really liked vassar, thought i was going to get in.

I had great recs and everything, and my essay was touching. It focused about being gay and struggles in my life, etc. Much of which my teacher recs supplemented nicely with info about my family. Yet, Vassar is the only school I am yet to hear from and assume that I am rejected/waitlisted. I was waitlisted at Wash U in St. Louis, but accepted to U of Southern Cal where I think I’m going. Good luck to everyone else on where you’re going, and those who got in to Vassar Congratulations!! :)

General Comments/ Congratulations/ Venting/ Commiserations/ Scholarships, etc : Congratulations everyone! I’m so excited! When I went on the Vassar College Bus trip, I fell in love with the place, it was just so amazing. Funny story actually, on my YourSpace application, I accidentally uploaded my essay for Brown, it was a total nightmare when I realized what I did AFTER I had already uploaded it. But I called the Admissions Office and sorted everything out, and now I’m in! I’m so happy! Hopefully financial aid pulls through, I’ve got some decisions to make.

Wow guys. The fact that I am not sensing irony in this discussion of sexual orientation being a factor in the admissions process is kind of scaring me - not gonna lie.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations/Scholarships,etc: I thought I was a good match for Vassar. Almost everyone thinks so, actually, but I understand how competitive it is to get into Vassar for a Chinese student =/

I’m not too disappointed, but it’s still a bitter piece of news to get.

I wonder how long it will take for my letter to reach BC, Canada. I hope there is a positive correlation between being able to enter the congrats2014 site and getting accepted!

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Umm, I am slightly surprised, but only slightly.
General Comments: Accepted to UVa(Echols), University of Chiago, JMU, and CNU, waitlisted at Oberlin, deferred by Dartmouth. Best of luck class of 2014, and to those denied or waitlisted, I am sure you all are great and will have an awesome time at which ever school you go to.

Oh, give me a break, didimakeamistake. you do not get into vassar because you are gay. you do not not get into vassar because you are straight. you get in based on your credentials, enthusiasm for the school, scores, etc. i have no idea why you would post such an offensive statement.

I don’t think they would accept anyone for being a certain sexual orientation or political preference. I for one am the founder of Young Republicans at my school and I feel that Vassar was very fair towards its applicants.

Does anyone know if they send out emails to ALL international students, or just students from overseas? I’m from Canada and haven’t yet received an email or a letter…

accepted! and very excited. No idea where I’ll be going next year.

tigerzilla,

I’m also from Canada and I didn’t get an email either. So I called the admissions office and they resent it. But I still never got an email, so I called again, and Jamie Munzo, the officer responsible for Canada, composed one right on the spot and sent it to me! Haha. Anyway, the point is, you can just call them!

Oh really? Haha that’s sweet! Ok, I’ll give it a try :)

Ps…was it good news?

It was! Haha. The lady I spoke to on the phone was entirely solemn, so solemn I thought for sure I was rejected, except 10 minutes later the email from Jamie Munzo arrived and it was good news! Good luck :)
