Still waiting in San Diego for letter about honors and scholarships

Still waiting in PA too

When did you guys get accepted

Just received my acceptance letter, how long after that are the scholarship/honors letters sent?

Accepted: November 2007.

:P

Just go info about orientation but still no scholarship info. Figured I would get something with 4.2 GPA and 32 ACT. Oh well might be time to move on

How do you have orientation info already? It says on the website they don’t start getting sent until March in the order acceptance fees are paid.

Well I got deferred yesterday. OSU was a bit of a reach for me, but its still my top school and hopefully I can get accepted in March.

3.7/4 GPA UW and a 4.5/5 GPA W
Tough classes, including 5 APs (US History, US Gov’t, Macro, Micro, Psychology)
25 Composite ACT
Great recs, essays, and extra curriculars
White and from outside of Boston

Test scores are what hurt me, I assume.

I applied 10/13 so for those of you that are still waiting to hear back just be patient. I heard back on 1/4.

Good luck everyone, I’ll check back in in March. Let me know if you have any questions.

offthewall1979: it was just some insignificant flier about housing/orientation/visiting

Okay, sorry about that. I think I’m still on edge about scholarships and Honors :)

<color=green>Decision: Accepted</color=green>

Planned major: Welding Engineering, Minors in German and International Business

Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): None
ACT: 30S (34E, 31R, 30S, 25M, 8W)
SAT II: None
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.5
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Top 20% with WGPA, top 30% with unweighted GPA
AP : German (5), U.S. Gov (3), Chemistry (2), U.S. History (2)
IB : None
Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc AB & BC, AP Physics C M and E&M, Economics/Personal Finance, English IV, two sections of Senior Portfolio (Basically senior out of school experience ut you work your butt off; I am an intern at Oak Ridge National Lab)
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): None

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): FIRST Robotics (Team Captain), Marching Band (Drum Major), Earth Club (President), Scholars’ Bowl (Team Captain), being outdoorsy (I spend a LOT of time hiking, mountain climbing, canoeing, exploring, etc.)
Job/Work Experience: 20-25 hours/week around Christmas at JCPenney, 30-35 hours/week at ORNL from this August till this coming June.
Volunteer/Community service: ~200 hours volunteering for church, charities, etc.
Essays: Killed it. Wrote an awesome CA essay comparing the first time I climbed a mountain to starting at an OOS college where I won’t know anybody, and the benefits of both.
Teacher Recommendation: Probably pretty good; it was from one of our principals who LOVES me.
Counselor Rec: Probably pretty good; she likes me quite a bit and thinks I’m a great kid.

Other
State (if domestic applicant): Tennessee
School Type: Public academy-based high school
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: ~$200k
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Long term internship at a highly respected national laboratory
Reflection: I was VERY surprised I got in. Just shows the power of knowing the teachers, principals, and other people who write your letters of rec on a very personal level.
Strengths: Essays, leadership positions, letters of rec, internship
Weaknesses: Unweighted GPA, ACT math score (read as: the stuff that matters to an engineering student).
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to UT Knoxville, Tennessee Tech, West Virginia, and Kentucky; waiting to hear from Virginia Tech
General Comments: GO BUCKS! Hoping I can get a bunch of scholarships from FIRST and EWI; OOS tuition is a cruel mistress. Does anybody know when we find out about Scholars programs?
