[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: accepted to Pitt, waiting on Boston University

Candace, they just sent it to me, I didn’t really ask for it. But yeah huge blessing! Maybe you can ask? But keep in mind that travel for us ended up being around 800-1000 dollars (I’m from Cali) and then you’re reimbursed later. So the grant is generous ($600) but won’t cover everything.

I can’t get college out of my mind! I keep thinking about classes, and people, and doorms, and (most importantly) football games. Sooo…Who else is excited?? :D

Has anyone received their financial aid yet?

Financial aid will be online the first week of April

So I guess my application is gonna stay incomplete (I got an email). This is ridiculous. I sent in all my transcripts thru mail, email, commonapp (my counselor did in front of me) and they say they still havent received it. Its not even a reach for me, I consider it a safety and I have got into Illinois (still waiting on most other decisions), but at least accept my transcripts. I had called them at least 25 times (the admissions people sounded really really nice tho) and resent my transcripts as they asked me to. Well, I dont really care now.
Sorry I needed to vent. Also, best of luck to everyone else.
PS - I tried to use punctuation and capital letters so if some english is incorrect, I dont really care.

“Harassing your admissions counselor won’t help your situation. Calling frequently and showing up at the admissions office isnt going to improve your chances, but it may annoy the extremely busy admissions employees.”

Copied from college apps…You might already know this but just putting it out there…

oh it wasnt like “Hey, I really like OSU and I want to attend” or anything. More like them saying “please call back tomorrow as our international counselors are currently busy”. Emailing didnt help either lik they said theyll take 10 days to respond. i aint got time to wait 10 days for every question.

Deferred for a second review whatever that means.

SAT1 2080 (1450 Math and Reading)
3.6 Gpa I think
Haven’t passed a class since middle sophomore year (now senior, 23 credits from freshman and sophomore year)
High school had no AP option
Skipped a quarters worth of school
Multiple suspensions
Taught myself a bunch of 3d modeling and film editing software, worked with NASA on concept game for science education as a result, astronaut William readdy
Terrible recommendation, my guidance counselor was the only person who would give me one, probably because she is the only person who doesn’t know me too well
Wrote the essay in fifteen minutes about Carl Sagan or something
Run a physics page, started a secular club and left, worked on robotics team and left
I probably won’t get in considering I’ve never done anything and I haven’t passed a class in years outside of gym, about all I do is watch TV

I just got a letter from the engineering dept. I was awarded a 1000.00 deans one time scholarship. Every bit helps!

we got an email today that said “Ohio State will soon be e-mailing you a notification about financial aid, which will include a link to view your award package for the 2013-14 academic year.” my D didn’t apply for any type of financial aid; does this mean she may have been awarded some other type of financial award?

[/ul]General Comments: OSU was a shot in the dark for me. My first-choice/long-shot was UNC, and I was expecting my next 4 years to be at NC State. I had a blind hope for UNC, and now I’m currently grieving. But now everything has changed. OSU is basically giving me in-state tuition through scholarships. From what I’ve heard and seen, it is an amazing school and a beautiful campus. I just need to convince my parents since they expected admittance to UNC and GT. I have yet to visit the campus; hopefully, a trip might help persuade them. But in all honesty, I’m excited for OSU. If a top school like them wants me, then I would be proud to go there. Go Buckeyes :)

P.S. If anyone has tips/intel to convince my parents about OSU, I would love your advice.

Vintel, my parents were also iffy about OSU since Ohio is so far from California and they had their hearts set on UCLA, but I took my mom with me to a Los Angeles Admitted Students reception and she loved how personalized it was, plus a current student was able to positively answer all her questions and reassure all her doubts and worries! My mom’s all for OSU now!

*Vinomz
sorry I have no idea why I said Vintel
