How nice to be done!!! It might be a while for my S. He's in at his 3 favorites, hasn't heard from ID reach, the scholarship offers will tell the tale. Congrats to u. Tabby

My daughter was accepted to Swarthmore. Since she's graduating in February, I guess we'll spend the rest of this week (she has a 5 day weekend starting today) figuring out her Spring and Summer plans instead of using the time to complete 10 more applications.

I'll do it the way the kids on the other fourms do it. I like when it's all in one place:

Oh good Searchingavalon, I just popped back over here to add yours to the new format. Looks like you've got it handled!

Thanks Bookworm;) He told me last night that everyone is telling him to keep his grades up, which annoys him because he can't imagine why they would think he'd do otherwise. So, he wants straights As next quarter. Funny that he's applying more pressure to himself AFTER the decision.

OT, but Searchingavalon, what sort of schedule is your daughter on that she grads in Feb - DH is a high school teacher, its a professional interest thing.

SearchingAvalon...I don't know how I missed that news of yours! Wowee! Swarthmore ED! All right! Very happy how it worked out for your daughter.....seems like the Parent Forum has lotsa good news lately. Hope this trend keeps going....
Sorry I missed your news earlier.
Susan

All the seniors in her school graduate in February. She attends a Jewish parochial school which teaches the 4 years of high school (with a dual secular/Jewish curriculum) in three and a half years, and then gives the seniors the option to be part of a program which spends a week and a half in Poland and some other Eastern European countries and three months in Israel. (D will be doing the former but not the latter.) The guidance office must explain clearly how it manages to do this, since the three and a half year schedule doesn't seem to have a negative impact on college admissions. Among other things, she starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.; it's a long day compared to the public high schools around here.

Susan, Thank you. But it's my fault not yours; I think I only posted it on the Swarthmore board. I've been more than a little ditsy since the envelope showed up.

Congrats to your daughter and to you, Searchingavalon! A wonderful accomplishment. We have something in common. Although my college freshman went to public high school, my son (9th grade) is going to a Jewish day school for high school, something he deeply desired. (Both kids did Schechter K-8.) I'd love to talk to you about your daughter's experience. Is her school a start-up?

Digmedia: Congrates, I would like to go to the perneial football powerhouse and watch games :)

Momsdream:) Congrates on UPenn. hopefully your son's gf will get her favourable admission too. Is he planning to go to Investment banking? That is my son's chice too.

Cagel: Good luck with your daughte's Dartmouth decision. It is a nice ivy. She will meet lot of good kids.

This list is one of those bittersweet things, though. Some parents who've been mainstays while I've been coming to this place won't have an excuse to come around any more.

wjb, Thank you. I don't know what a start-up school is! But my guess (from the word "start"!) is that it's not, since it's been around for years, starting as a Schechter but turning itself into a community day school (i.e. non-denominational). But yes, I'd love to talk to you too. How do we do that?
