Official Parents Decision List

Great news! S has been selected a University Scholar which carries a half-tuition $15K merit aid scholarship at Boston University. We had been waiting for this letter since his ED acceptance a week ago.

He also received an acceptance from Drew University today which he will turn down. He had applied under the non-binding Dean's Choice program---just in case BU turned him down, he'd have an admission in his pocket. Cute handwritten note on the letter:

My daughter has worked very hard in high school, has many talents and interests both inside and outside of school, and is a wonderful young lady. I am glad all of this showed through in her application!!!

Kinshasa:
Congratulations to your S about Boston U!!! (OK, and to you too... :-).

I bet your wallet thanks you, too. Those 5_figure scholarships are getting harder & harder to come by.

Mother of Two and Frantic....YES! What great news! Bet everyone is smilin' at your house. That's wonderful. Kudos to your kids.

Kinshasha, as teens would say, the scholarship news is "sweet"......
It is sorta like mom and dad got a reward in the process....;-). Can't get much better than that. Congrats.
Susan

Congrats to MomofTwo and Kinshasha! What great universities your kids will be attending. Both are so intriguing and well thought of. And Frantic, D.C. is a wonderful place for your S if he loves politics. What fun he will have. Be sure to tell him about going to a "Crossfire" production. They produce it weekday's on GW's campus and tickets are free.

Congratulations on the great news on everyone's kids!

Kinshasha--maybe I'll run into your S on campus next year! (I work at BU.) Let me know if you need any BU gear.

I am incredibly impressed by this college list! Though I am new to the forums, I am quickly realizing that you all must have done a brilliant job raising those kids for them to have all been met with such success at the colleges of their dreams.

And to those whose children have been deferred, I see many acceptances to come!

My son was accepted to Duke ED. His back up school would have been Emory, I guess. But he didn't start any other apps!

SInce my last update to this thread..

Congrats to :

Rotarymom's Son, Frantic's Son, MotherofTwo's Daughter, Candance's son and Radar's son (welcome to the board).

Kinshasha, congrats on the scholarship money. It makes the admission all the more sweeter. What a great little stocking stuffer he got. Now the big question.. .Wlll he tell you that since he is saving you $60,000 can he now get some other big ticket item? Because it never ends :)

Sybbie, heh heh, you got it right on the nose. S told me a while ago, "Well, if I get the scholarship, that's MY money, right?" Like he's running out to buy a car or something. As if he'd need one in Boston. Actually S must be the only male teenager in CA who hates driving. He drives to school and back because he has to-- no bus service to his private school-- and no more.

Kinshasa--your S will love how easy it is to get around Boston without a car! My S didn't take his road test for his license until the day before he left for UCLA. Three+ years later, he still doesn't own a car but has learned how to ride LA's mass transit system or borrowed a friend's car when needed.

LM, thanks for the BU gear offer--- I beat you to it! I've ordered a hooded sweatshirt so he can wear it to school the first day back from vacation-- and get this, my FAVORITE-- a T-shirt that says "It's all fun and games until someone loses a tooth- then it's BU hockey." He's already decided he wants to live in Warren Towers. I think this late bloomer is going to break out at college.

I'm brand new to CC and sure wish I had found out about this site earlier. Congratulations to all of you and to your marvelous children. As you can tell from my name, I have 2 daughters going through this right now.

Daughter #1 has been accepted to Architecture at the University of Illinois. She is waiting for the RD information from both Tulane and WUSTL. I'll bet that if she is accepted to both of these, she will choose to go to the U of I. I think she just wants to know that she can be accepted to a more "prestigous" school.

Daughter #2 has been accepted to the U of I and Butler (a secret gem in Indianapolis). She's waiting to hear from West Point, which is her first choice. She has received a nomination from our Congressman, passed the medical, passed the physical aptitude exam, passed the interview and her file will be reviewed within the first 2 weeks of January. (Too bad they don't have ED/EA anymore.)

I can't wait to put their names on your list with the name of the school they will actually attend. And a little $$ wouldn't hurt.

I really have enjoyed reading all of your posts. This is a very supportive group and I'll make sure to keep up with all of you.

Mom of twins...wow, already congrats are in order for your girls! I know they may still have wish lists but they have already met with a lot of success! And good luck on the West Point review. How exciting. It takes a special kind of kid to go for that and I am sure she has what it takes.

You have lots to be proud of!
Susan

Congratulations momoftwins ... from twinmom.
(And best of luck on your daughter's Westpoint acceptance.)

Congrats to all!

Kinshasa: If your S will be living in Warren Towers, he will have the pleasure of experiencing what S and his chums dubbed "the carnivorous elevator."

Yes, he's already read that the elevator breaks down a lot--- is that what you mean?

Kinshasa:
Look at the bright side - if he's running up & down those stairs all day, he'll be getting into great shape. No Freshman 15 here...

Kinshasa: Nope. Besides being slowwwww, it slams shut on anything in its way. You better not have an arm or a leg sticking out! S and chums lived on the 5th floor for two summers and sometimes did decide to usse the stairs.
