Official Parents Decision List

Daughter applied ED to Wesleyan and was accepted. She is extremely excited about attending. She is finishing her Gold Award project (same as Eagle Scout, for girls). A wonderful book a thon, which will distribute 1000's of books to underpriveledged kids.

Soozievt and Twinmom,

Thanks for the kind words and good wishes.

lbridge,
Congratulations to you and your daughter. It is great to learn of someone who stuck through Girl Scouts all the way through high school. Her Gold Award project sounds wonderful!

congrats, Ibridge!!! Marite and I are both parents of recent Wes grads, so if you have any questions, you have some resources here.

My D absolutely loved everything about Wes, and I'm sure yours will too.

Congrats to lbridge, and some others I've missed since last time - may well all have a blessed and safe holiday - thinking about Mini and daughter.

D accepted EA to Yale
Decision awaiting possible acceptances to several other high-profile colleges, and their fin. aid offers, but my gut feeling tells me it will be Y.
Other info: likely major = specialized history and/or classics. Will continue her performing arts in college. In addition to her array of accomplishments, I suspect that her personal qualities contributed to her stand-out teacher recs. No teacher would fail to notice those.

Congrats to epiphany, ibridge, momoftwins, and anyone I missed. And I thought now it was Freshman 40? (Because of all-you-can eat buffets, etc.)

Thank you all for the well wishes, congratulations to everyone as well. ED/EA is so nice. It definitely has taken the pressure off. Marite & Garland, I would love to hear anything I should know about WES. What are your WES grads doing now? Did they go to graduate school or directly to the work force. Did they study abroad? if so where did they go? I'm sure I'm going to have many more questions as time gets closer. In any event, enjoy the holidays and again Congratulations to all!

Congrats to Momoftwins’ D 1 & #2 , Ibridge’s D & Epiphany’s D

What a great way to go into the holiday season,

All those who have kids finishing essays and rushing to the post office, I know what you are going through because it was our house last year ( and we did not even have ED as an excuse)

I remember the computer getting stuck and dying on December 30 and I had to go to work to pick up mu laptop where she she e-mailed back up copies of every thing (take this as a tip, have your kid e-email or copy to CD/Disk a back up to all of their stuff now because you have a few hetic days in front of you. Hey april is coming and the results will be worth the wait.

My son was offered a place at Brasenose College, Oxford University, to read Philosophy, Psychology, and Physiology - only one condition, 5 AP Psych.

He is very pleased - in his words "I like their style!" He was also accepted at Bristol but would choose Oxford if he decides to leave the US - awaiting 11 other responses plus scholarship offers before final decision. Oxford definitely ranks first in the "Broaden your horizons - Feed Your Head!" category.

Congrats yulsie! So, is he confident about getting a 4 in AP Psych?

He has a 99% in the course so far and got very well last year on harder APs, so I hope the 5 will be no problem - he will of course have to prep for it and take a bunch of practice tests, leaving as little as possible to chance.

He got an offer from Bristol also, and the conditions were 5 5 4 for 3 APs, so Oxford is actually being less stringent in their requirements. (It seems quite practical - he's going to be reading Psychology so they want to make sure he is still getting the equivalent of an "A" in it). He applied to a few other universities via UCAS but will not complete the apps now.

Interestingly, the "PPP" course description lists 5 textbooks and 5 scholarly books that they expect the freshers to have studied before they show up. I like that attitude - it's as if they were saying "you selected this course, you presumably want to master the subject matter, so be ready to discuss these books with the tutor when you arrive."

yulsie--congratulations on your S's acceptance to Oxford! And congratulations to all parents and their kids on their acceptances. Surely that was the best holiday present by far.

Congrats to all!
Sybbie- I woke up in the middle of the night and it was windy and stormy and I thought about your post. With only a few days left for D to get the last few apps. done I hope the power doesn't go out! This morning we awoke to no electricity. It is back on now and when D gets up I am going to insist she crank those last few out.

CONGRATS to all of you. I am happy for all of you and have enjoyed following your Ss' and Ds' progress. My S is waiting for scholarship news from his favorite because that is a huge, deciding factor with such an expensive college. I would love for it all to be over with. Is anyone else waiting on scholarship news which will determine their child's choice?
Tabby

D accepted to: University of Washington, University of Oregon, Purdue and Knox
Decision: Waiting to hear from other schools and weighing financial/merit aid before visiting and making final decision

Younger son admitted to MIT (EA) and U Michigan Ann Arbor. Still waiting on CMU and Va Tech RD. Yesterday, started the paperwork on a massive home equity loan in case S chooses MIT, U Michigan (out of state) or CMU. Hoping for merit aid from U Mich or CMU. Still do not know where he will go.

Hey mom60,

Just one year ago, my darling little procrastinator was finishing up her essays (I took the don't teach a pig to dance approach- wasste of time and it upsets the pig) and stayed in another section of the house. My hat goes off to those who go through this process more than once.

Congrats to Yulsie, Tabby, Momofonly, and Randomdad.
