"because we're really being controlled by random chance, molecular collisions, and quantum mechanics anyways"

Ultimately, yes this is true...however you fail to account for the fact that these collisions managed to somehow organize themselves into complex organisms. THAT is where the usefulness of physics falls short...

another time maybe ;) right now i'm just trying to post some inspirational life quotes to make people feel better if they get deferred :p

"Everything in life happens for a reason..."

haha the reason you'll get rejected is that you didn't work hard enough.

t-2 days friggin' anxious"

my man you couldnt be more wrong... for example people who are at a disadvantage academically (poor, etc.) can work their asses off but might be unable to match the grades of the wealthier.. and its not even just the poor, sometimes a student might be able to meet the academic standards of others, that doesnt mean that he/she isnt working hard enough

Bad mindset. Look, we all know some people are at a greater advantage, and that some people are much smarter than others, but there's that inexplicable phenomenon called luck. It can turn out some amazing results.

Nycxsteve, grades aren't the indication of success; college isn't the indication of success; wealth, status, power aren't indication of success. Success comes from within.

people can try as hard as they ever had and still get second in the race. the other guy may have just jogged -- born with a natural talent or running with the help of devine intervention. he didn't try half as hard as you, but he had the advantages you didn't and so he won out.

on a spiritual perspective, i think everything does happen for a reason. we're only tested to our limits, and never beyond. in the end, what is best for us may be something we had never before thought -- but that's my religious thought and i'm trying to conert athiests into believers or any extremist stuff -- just throwing out some fodder for the crew.

but if the darties really did score-pad -- well i don't know. i believe in their honesty -- and if they were true about the SAT's and etc's, then damn.

good luck to every other ivy. and good luck to us.

soysauce i couldnt agree with you more lol you realize that this part of my post:

"Everything in life happens for a reason..."
haha the reason you'll get rejected is that you didn't work hard enough.
t-2 days friggin' anxious"

was quoted from another poster above me right? i completely agree with everything you said lol and the prophet if you read my whole post thats exactly what i was saying, 100%

I love how, just several days ago we're like OMG Penn is my life. Now I see more posts on talking ourselves out of the whole infatuation. Again, I'm just going to think positively but prepare for the worst.

same with me! i'm trying to mentally detach myself from penn. to no avail. i had a dream last night where i saw that i got into penn. dont think i ever felt so excited in a dream before...anyways. then later i realized that i read the acceptance from a purple post it note in black sharpie that i had actually written (how i know this, i dont know. i just knew in my dream that i wrote it) so then i felt really disappointed that i misread the wrong thing. then i woke up. the upside was that i already found out the acceptance wasn't real in my dream.

hey at least penn is the smartest ivy... releasing decisions on a friday.

to keep with the office space references "research has shown that if you fire people on a friday there's less chance of a confrontation... mmkay?"

i have a dream that one day all of cc will rule the penn campus. i have a dream that penn and i can make love till the rising sun. i have a dream that this application process can end happily ever after.
