[] SAT Total: 1890/2020
[] SAT II: USH - 770 Chem - 760. Lit - 650 Math II - 660
[] ACT: 28/29
[] AP/IB taken/scores: 5 Lang, 5 USH, 4 Chem
[] GPA weighted: ~4.2
[] GPA unweighted: 3.86 (would be a 4.0 but my lack of freshman credits created this)
[li] Rank or % estimate: 77/365 (I'm missing 5 credits because I have no freshman year)
[/li]

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Lit teachers said they were fabulous, personal, beautiful.
[] Optional Essay?(Y/N): Y, it was good.
[] Teacher Recs: One mediocre, other was personal, about me.
[] Counselor Rec: Probably generic, or really crappy since she hated me.
[] Supplemental Rec(s)?: From the City's Community and Parks Manager who I did Community Service with.
[] Hook (if any): QB Applicant, maybe international etc (3 citizenships)
[li] Interview?: Yes, it was fantastic (1.5 hours)
[/li]

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: WA
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[] Gender: Male
[] Financial Aid?(Y/N): Y (and I bet I'm international)
[] Legacy Yes/No: No
[] Recruited Yes/No: No
[] Important ECs: Youth Court, Youth Board, Debate, Key Club, DECA, NHS, Student Senate etc.

[/ul]Other Factors (weaknesses, strengths, etc.): I was probably counted as international and since I asked for aid, that could have heavily influenced it.
Also, I have no freshman second semester, hence my rank and gpa is screwed up, and they could have negatively taken that into account.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
It's a shame that I didn't get in. I thought Penn could differentiate between people who were truley passionate for the school, and others who just wanted to go there for the brand name.
Either way, I'll keep trying and will try and transfer.
Great job every who got accepted. I hope you guys enjoy it, I'm so jealous.
As to every who was deferred, keep your heads up high. I think if you really do have a place for Penn in your heart, you will be accepted.
And to the rejectes, don't take it personally. Maybe Penn doesn't recognize us right now, for one thing or another, and it may not even be because of our grades or SATs that we were deffered. Either way, continue on being you and just try to be the best person who you can become, because it doesn't matter what school you go to that makes you great - it's your drive and passion to become great that makes it come about.

I'll still probably lurk on this board after this xD

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: My main essay was all about baseball and my involvement through playing and working with the Washington Nationals. I also tied into dreams and watching baseball movies as a kid. I tied each movie to a moment in my baseball career. Very creative, but not the best written piece of work. My EC essay was about helping with a homeless kid. Very good. My Penn professor essay was about a professor who lectured me this summer. Better than most because I actually listened to him. Then, Why Penn essay was my favorite essay ever. I did a spoof off "It's A Wonderful Life" and it was very good.
[] Optional Essay?(Y/N): Y. My Page 217 was about starting a skateboard company in 8th grade. Pretty good.
[] Teacher Recs: Very, very good. One from a well-respected math teacher who is nationally known. One from a physics teacher that I've had for 2 years who really loves me.
[] Counselor Rec: Very good
[] Supplemental Rec(s)?: Yes, old baseball coach who speaks to my heart and attitude on the field, despite not being the best.
[] Hook (if any): None, maybe that I went to the summer program.
[li] Interview?: Yes, It went very well.
[/li]

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]

[] Legacy Yes/No: No
[] Recruited Yes/No: No
[] Important ECs: Varsity Baseball (2yrs), JV Baseball (2yrs), Washington Nationals Internship, Baseball Summer Camp Counselor. I made a big focus on my love for baseball, despite my talents and abilities. Senior Class President, DECA club president, MUN exec board/committee, Volunteer Program at a Local Homeless Shelter, Architecture Internship

[/ul]Other Factors (weaknesses, strengths, etc.): I did a summer program (M&TSI) at Penn and highlighted that as a reason for applying early. Focus on baseball and my love for the game. My WhyPenn essay was also very creative and fun.
