well they told me they usually release on fridays in may, 16th of may being the first release date.

this really stinks, so much time left…2 whole weeks

someone earlier said that there was no weight on final transcripts; that they just confirm admission.
I hope final transcripts are good because I’ll have far better grades on them.

so for those of you who were told you were missing the midyear report, when did the email say they wanted them in by? and did they want it by fax, email, or regular mail? my grades have improved a lot and i want to send in another one reflecting that.

I have a feeling that the Penn transfer admissions is running a little behind schedule this year.

Sent in my final transcript… don’t know if they’ll consider it. Stupid school makes A- a 3.67, grrrrr.

2ndchance, i agree. i get that feeling too.

i called penn they said decisions will be available at the last week of may

if you applied early, you’ll get them on the 16th.

applied early? they said they don’t look at anything before march 15th.

have you all received the postcard saying that your application is complete? I have yet to receive mine and they never send me an email saying that I was missing something. I called penn admissions and they told me that “no news is good news” (which I seriously doubt)… have any of you encountered this problem?

I don’t think anyone gets an “your application is complete” card…I think you only get the one saying that they’ll contact you if your application is NOT complete. So in that sense, no news really is good news.

gosh darn it, why does the Penn transfer process have to be so excruciating??

1) no online service like many other schools to check whether all the important materials were received
2) rolling or not?? I know an applicant from a previous year who applied hours before the deadline and received an acceptance around May 10th.
3) and also in reference to previous year trends, penn is horrible at meeting deadlines with some people received decisions as late as June 7th/8th.
4) Inconsistent information from admission representatives, ex. midterm reports: - the transfer checklist says its mandatory, but one person on CC reports that it’s not a required nor really meaningful component of the application.
5) They also officially stated officially that Decisions PINs would be mailed out no later than April 25th, many still haven’t received them, and others (like me) are told by this website, [Penn Admissions](http://www.admissionsug.upenn.edu/decisions/), that our emails are not even in the systems. We submitted Part A (just basic info) application long time back, and they still don’t have our emails in the system ,what’s going on??

I’m not gonna lie, I would be overjoyed by an acceptance in 2+ weeks, but Penn really needs to improve their application process for transfers:

Possible suggestions:
- Online tracker for application materials (cuz we all know how tedious it can be to have to re-send stuff like midyear report, deans report, transcripts, recs, etc.)
- Fixed dates for everything!! so we don’t have to play a guessing game about what every vague date (mid-May, late-April, etc.)
- Many schools release statistics about acceptances, why not Penn? I mean “we take roughly 200 from over 2000” really doesn’t give enough info.
- Clarify the whole issue of releases of decisions thru 3 batches…I’ve heard 1st batch = outright acceptances, rejects, 2nd batch = marginal rejections, 3rd batch = waitlist (for which spots open up when 1st batch acceptees relinquish their spot). I’ve also heard that it’s just rolling basis. what going on?

Hit me with your “chill outs” and “calm downs” etc. etc. BUT lets face it, many of us have been thinking about transfer-related issues since the Fall. We have invested a lot of time into this despite the very low chances. I would just like Penn to make things a lot simpler and easier.

(sorry for spelling/grammar errors)

agreed there. i’m anxiously waiting till the 16th though, i’m pretty sure they will start releasing then.

and I also haven’t received PIN/login info

jack_bauer76, you spoke my bloody mind. i’m applying somewhere else as a transfer student as well, so the deadline thing is particularly frightening to me. i heard transfers have something like two weeks to let the schools know that they’re going; what if i get an acceptance one place and another one from Penn two weeks later?

i know, that is ridiculously optimistic. but…it’s pessimistic at the same time… holy paradox.

the official penn transfer thread is now officially 15 pages of speculation

with ±15 days to go

haha not so sure abt ± 15 days thing bk22889. take a quick glance at the Penn 2007 Transfer thread, and you’ll see all the worrying/bickering going on May 20th-June 5th.

fantastic
… though someone last year did hear on the 12th

I completely agree with jack_bauer76!

If anything, why has Penn not even acknowledged us (through email) about the transfer admissions process so far? It makes them seem as if they don’t give a **** about us. All it take is a couple of minutes to update us with our current status and the status of the admissions process. I paid them an application fee of $75 for a reason…
