Official Penn Transfer Thread Fall 2008

Engrish, they do look at high school transcripts, especially if you’re a freshman applying as a sophomore transfer. I heard they’re weighed almost as equally as if you were an original freshman because they’re the best indicator of your long-term performance.

ahhh…because right now my 2nd sem senior year grades arent that great…im probably going to go down from a 3.95 to a 3.87. such saying i have around 3Bs(all B- potentials) , 2As and 1 A-…yeah not great. Will this strongly effect my chances for penn? lets say even if i get around 3.8-4.0 in college first year?
inkofvixx, Are you sure though? because when i checked the requirements for penn’s transfer application, they seem to only ask for your SAT scores from your high school education. I really want to know how much hs stuff is taken into consideration for transfer…thanks

look, engrish, they require a high school transcript. i don’t know anyone who’s on the adcom, but they look at the stuff.

Don’t let it deter you; do as well you can your first semester and apply. but they definitely look at it, so if you have to compensate at college, compensate.

engrish, I’m guessing that college matters most. A lot of kids transfer from lower ranked schools, so it’s likely that the virtue of their college GPAs, and not their high school, is what made the difference this time around.

just got another confirmation from an admissions representatives…1st batch of decisions will be posted on the 16th! 2nd and 3rd batches will be released on following Fridays.

thanks for the update miss bauer

you all get your pins yet?

also, do letters come before or after online decisions?

Still no PIN.

be happy you guys don’t have PINs. it’s just another nervous tick i have now, checking it all the time.

Anyone able to get confirmation of a resent (formerly missing) credential? Everytime I call they stonewall me and won’t tell me and they haven’t responded to my email for 3 weeks.

I know what you mean inkofvixx!

I think them saying they have 3 rounds based on how earlier you turned in your application is crap. I still stand with the 1st round for strong acceptances/rejects, 2nd round maybes/rejects, 3rd round wait-listed people. If they did other-wise, then that would completely be rolling admissions (which they say they are not).

Thanks for the update jack!

forgot to mention, the admission rep said they were in the process of mailing out PINs. I guess then just make sure you have it by 5pm on Friday of next week.

also it’s time to stop the rolling admissions crap. May 16th will decide 90% of our fates.

I didn’t get my pin yet, either…

jack_bauer76 did they say they were going to mail or email the PIN? Is there anyway we can find it online?

You would think that a school as old as… you know… the United States could have figured out how to expedite the admissions process by now.

I’ve been accepted to Rice, and I have half a mind just to bag this whole Penn business, and head to Houston instead. What do you all think?

depends on what you’re goin for, anzac. there’s no place better for business than wharton, so i’ll tough it out.

Art History/Medieval Studies!

transferguy, PINs will come by the way of snail mail not email. I’d say that they would send them out by at least next Monday, so that they arrive by Wednesday/Thursday at the latest.

…i got mine by e-mail.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you who received the login ID are applying to CAS? It seems like the majority of the people in this thread who received it are Wharton applicants. Am i wrong?
