Official Penn Transfer Thread Fall 2008

has anyone received an email about which materials they’re missing in the application?

The emails of missing materials were sent around end of April/early May if you look in the 2007 Penn transfer thread.

oh, well I just got one today, so I was wondering if anyone else had

based on last year’s thread and when people got their notifications, how close do you think we are from getting our decisions?

2 weeks? i.e. very early may?
3 weeks…?

xferjhcn, what were they missing? and which college are you applying to?

Why are people freaking out about status and stuff already. If you’re so concerned, call them! They’ll tell you. The online status will be up shortly, no reason to panic.

If you call, they tell you that they’ll be sending out emails. I know from recent (as in today) experience. I think people are “freaking out” because the wait, frankly, blows, and the thought that a decision could be delayed because of missing materials is a scary one. That, and plain curiosity. Why do you think these threads are so popular?

yeah you are right about the wait…it sucks
like another 3 weeks im guessing.

Well hopefully all my things went in alright. Getting another dean’s report or midterm report sent in will be a very tedious/annoying process considering my last day of school is Apr 21.

I called and told the lady who answered that I’d gotten notification that my high school transcript was missing and I had sent it in twice – and since I paid five dollars to have it sent twice I was wondering if she could check the status of my application because I don’t want to have to go back to my original high school which is a two hour drive.

Anyways, she bought it and she gave me the status of my app.

Jack you live in Houston? Where do you go?

anyone else, get their notification of missing materials via email?

Do admissions officers typically have contact with students prior to getting the admissions decision? As in having a conversation via email of some sort?

In a post on the Penn forum, one of the regular HS applicants mentioned that a regional admissions director contacted him via email, asking about specific thing he mentioned in his essays.

I’m sure any kind of contact initiated by the Penn side indicates that they have some particular interest in your application.

so…how many transfer applications did penn get?

i’d like to know that too, but that information cannot be available (at least not right now), can it?

I got a notification saying my midterm grade report was missing. I’m disappointed; I sent it in on time.

Are we gonna post stats as transfer students to see how we stack up?

I haven’t sent it in, but my notification says they got it… how strange

i called them yesterday because i sent in my midyear report as well but they said they didn’t receive it. the rep who picked up said that you should just resend it to be safe but if you really don’t want to it’s fine cause they have a large stack of documents they haven’t filed yet and it’s probably in there

Okay, so just today I get an email about a mid-term report. I’m not too happy about submitting a mid-term report. Why do I have to go to all of my professors and be like “hey, I’m leaving!”

I totally agree Sachmoney- it’s pretty awkward. I’m in the processing of hunting down profs etc.
