<p>This is kind of random, but I’m just joining the thread. Wondering if anyone would be willing to chance me.</p>

<p>Applying for Wharton 2011</p>

<p>Definite Positives:

  • 4.0 first semester GPA
  • Honors business program at Boston University - advisory board member
  • High school valedictorian - 4.0 high school GPA
  • Good musician [cello, guitar, bass, piano, singing] - gave them a supplementary video
  • Good recs, including 1 from business prof</p>

<p>Definite Negatives

  • Stunk my SAT IIs - 670 math ii, 670 physics - and I reported them. my high school sends them out with transcripts.
  • No Microecon credit, just macro (a 4 on the micro exam is acceptable at BU, so I didn’t take it first semester)
  • My midterm grade report was apparently lost in the mail - I just faxed it to them today.
  • No history with ivies, raised in Wisconsin</p>

<p>Could go either way:
+/- 33 on the ACT
+/- 3.87 current semester midterm GPA, 3.93 if you count last semester</p>

Just wondering if chances are higher/lower for some departments

<p>I think you will get a definite boost for applying to seas. Penn states they accept about 200 out of 2k overall, roughly 10% acceptance rate (I believe the 2007 rate was more like 12%). The numbers for Wharton are 20-25 takes out of 350-400 applicants, and the acceptance rate in previous years is around 6%. Obviously when you have 10-12% for Penn in general and 6% for Wharton, the other school’s will have relatively higher acceptance rates.</p>
