***Official Pomona Class of 2019 RD Discussion Thread***

Please discuss here!

Good luck to everyone applying!

P.S.
Has anyone done an interview yet? Did mine but it was a Skype interview with a senior (alum interviews in my area were used up), and was not as engaging as a face-to-face one might be.

Are people doing the Critical Inquiry prompt or the Freedom one?

I’m for freedom: )

I am for freedom too. =) And I had an face-to-face interview with an alumni. (I am an applicant from China.)

I’m from China too! You’re lucky to have a face-to-face one. By the time I requested for an interview, no spaces were left. So I contacted the admission office and secured a Skype one :)

When did you do your interview?

Wrote about freedom. Had an alumni interview. And I’m also from China :)

Are you guys both RD?

Actually no. I applied ED 1 to Pomona. I kinda wonder why people aren’t excited about the ED tho. I mean, look at the CMC ED 1 thread.

I know what you mean! I actually created the RD threads for Williams and Swarthmore last weekend as well. It is really interesting that nobody has created them before.

And it sometimes just happens. The Harvard, Yale (also created by me lol), Stanford, UChicago threads are particularly hot, while some schools don’t have a thread at all. It might say something about the popularity of the college among applicants this year but the existence of a thread can influenced by so many other factors that I think this indication cannot be relied on.
Been hanging around CC for a while, these are just my thoughts

What are we interested in studying?
Astrophysics, History, and Literature for me: )

Well I like a bit of everything and particularly love bio, chem and studio art.
Astrophysics sounds like huge fun =)
Do you live in China at this moment?

Yep, I live in Hangzhou
You?

I’m in Ningbo. We’re quite close!

Hi RD applicant from Nebraska. I’m glad someone created this thread.

Good luck ED applicants! Y’all hearing in three days or so?

Hey guys. I’m also applying RD. I’m doing the freedom essay. How long was your essay?

I’m from China too, but ED2.
How do you guys get chances to have an interview and how about the questions?

@yoflat
For interviews, you have to request them yourself on their website.

Did anyone see that the Pomona College Office of Admissions is doing a “countdown” for the ED2 and RD deadlines. It’s kinda funny that it also coincides with the countdown to New Years. Well played Pomona, well played. <a href=“Pomona College Office of Admissions”>https://www.facebook.com/PomonaAdmissions</a> =D>

Hey guys! Submitted my RD app about two weeks ago, but unlike you guys, picked the Critical Inquiry Course prompt. I really liked the essay (used it for two different schools actually :P). Did not do an interview, but should probably get on scheduling one lol.

Hey guys! International applicant also applying to Pomona EDII. I did the critical inquiry course essay prompt, and just
like @butterfreesnd‌ I used mine for both. Question: what did people write about in their common app essay? Hope to see you all one day at Pomona! :)

Basically wrote my whole life story. From my unusual upbringing to how it affected my actions/ attitudes towards life now. But of course, I picked highlights so it isn’t as “boring” as it might sound!

My question: as Pomona only has one essay, did people write anything for the Additional Information either on Common App or in the Pomona supplement? Also, since Pomona has its own Additional Info section, for those who chose to write something, did you put it in the Common App one or the Pomona one?
