Admit! International, China.
Woohoo! Rejection!
To be honest, I didn’t really picture myself at Pomona, so I’m okay with this decision. Congrats to everyone who got in! I’m sure that you’ll all do amazing things. I can’t wait to hear back from CMC.
@Hawkace I also got rejected and am looking forward to hearing from CMC
@binatang
I’m heading over to the CMC sub forum right now. Wanna join me? Haha.
Pomona is D’s first rejection. She’s not terribly upset as she prefers the bigger research universities. I enjoyed walking around the beautiful campus, but she commented that it wasn’t any bigger than her high school.
Congrats to those of you that we’re accepted!
OMG I got in!!! International from Vietnam!
Anyway does anyone know when information about financial aid comes out (if at all)? I’m an international applying for financial aid so I was super surprised that I was admitted, but the financial aid offer was nowhere to be seen in the portal so I’m a little bit freaked out now.
@spaamie1 Same here… Oh well, maybe it was for the best
Wait listed but for some reason on my portal I have an invitation to an accepted students reception…
Btw, for those requesting the link to the portal: I tried finding a link that did not include my email address, but that didn’t work. The email they sent out probably contained the specific link for each applicant… Sorry
Still can’t find anything about financial aid. I also didn’t get an e-mail today–I just linked to the portal from the e-mail I got after I applied and found my decision. For those of you who received an e-mail today, did it say anything about when financial aid decisions will be available?
Does Pomona give out merit-based scholarships?
@ProximaCentauri Unfortunately no
ACCEPTED!!! really surprised after being deferred ED1. I’m from LA and did not receive an email or any financial aid info
Denied: my first denial kinda happy didn’t want to go but my parents wanted me to
Rejected
English major
SAT: 2320
GPA: 3.8
Sat II: lit 800, us history 730
ECs good, very artsy and community service oriented
rec letters: great
Essays: pretty great
Art supplement: Idk I thought it was good.
Idk this sucks. Today I got rejected to pomona, kenyon, UCLA, and wait listed to UCI. Pomona was my second choice and I can’t stop crying. It’s cool though.
Got in! I’m so happy about this! I’m speechless!
This was my daughter’s first rejection. She really liked it, and it would have been a nice option to consider, but - as she pointed out to me last night - now it’s one less option to complicate her final decision! Her stats and experiences are as good as anyone’s, and better than many, but there are just too many very well qualified applicants for too few spots, so really great candidates get rejected. Best of luck as everyone makes their final decisions, whether you were accepted to Pomona or not.
I am very surprised to have gotten in! Chicago, Kenyon, and Middlebury all waitlisted me. Just goes to show how much of this whole dumb process is down to luck.
SAT 2250
SAT2: French 790, Lit 770
Extracurriculars are decent but not extraordinary
GPA and difficulty of courses very high, oriented towards foreign languages and literature
Very good essays
Rec letters: I have no idea, but decent at least
I am so excited! The only thing I’m worried about is financial aid…
@faithlea Congrats! Did you get any financial aid info with your acceptance? I can’t find anything about it in mine, and I still haven’t received the e-mail that Pomona’s website said would be sent when decisions were available. Maybe the financial aid offer will come by snail mail?
Accepted!
International student from Pakistan. Really surprised I got in, I think it’s because of the critical inuquiry course I designed. Even more surprising considering I got deferred from both Vassar and Hamilton and then wait listed from Kenyon and Colby and rejected from Colby.
Does anyone know how good they are with financial aid to international students?
