My daughter got in. Same large white envelope with priority sticker. Post market Dec. 11th. She is sooooooo happy!

I’m in! :)

accepted!!

D in as well.

I got in!!! I’m so excited!

Congrats from HMC(your friendly neighborhood) EDer!!

Lucky you guys got the results today. Ours aren’t even out yet.

FauxNom–is this the official one? I am very confused.
Anyway, our son is very happy. It was so sweet yesterday. I called my mail carrier at 10am, like I said I would and he checked the express mail----couldn’t find any envelope----then he checked the regular mail and got back on the phone and he said, " you looking for a big white envelope from Pomona College" and I screamed and he started laughing. I told him it would take be 15 min. to get over there would he save it for me. He said he would keep it in his hand. We live in the middle of nowhere KS so it take a while to get anywhere. Then I called my son and said, “Do you want me to open it?” He said, “OPEN IT OPEN IT!” I read the “warmest congratulations” and then I heard him tell everyone at school and everyone was yelling and clapping and excited. It was really awesome.

Some Stats:
M=800
CR=710
W=700

GPA 4.2

private school

played Baseball
newspaper
math club

No hook just a nice normal laid back kiddo from nowhere KS. Had an interview with the rep. that visited his school and it went very well.

I am really convinced these schools just want nice normal smart kids that aren’t some freaks that have been working for NASA since they were 2 years old.

congratulations everyone, you’re in for the time of your life :)

awww, they’re already replacing us. i feel old. congrats guys!!!

Hooray, the fat envelope just arrived! My D is beyond thrilled, of course, and we’re really proud of her.

Yep grateful1, this is the self-proclaimed official thread :slight_smile: It’s good to hear about another nice, normal laid back kid like your son getting in. My D was really drawn to the school because of how extremely smart but grounded everyone she met there was.

Congratulations to all the accepted ED-ers, I’m so proud and excited for you! As a Sagehen who was accepted last spring and chose to defer to 2014, I know exactly how wonderful it feels to get that auspicious envelope :slight_smile: If any of you are interested in interacting with your 2014 classmates before August 2010, here’s the Facebook group. I hope to see you there!

Hey there! Super congratulations to all accepted ED! I was deferred, but I hope my stats will be helpful to all applying regular…

SATs
CR: 800
M: 710
W: 800

GPA 3.63

Independent school in the Pacific NW

Music and art–related activities, and two Varsity letters.

I think my GPA was the real killer here. I was a pretty bad student my Freshman year, especially since I took a ton of Honors classes. Also, my interview wasn’t brilliant– I interviewed at Pomona, and I was really nervous since it was my very first interview!

I’ll be calling my regional rep tomorrow to talk and look for ways to improve. Good luck to you all, and I hope I’ll be seeing all of you in Claremont come next fall!

I’m working with a student interested for the class of 2015 and I have secret hopes for my son 2017 (Um - I can’t talk to my son about college yet - it stresses him - but he is tagging along with some of his cousin’s college visits).

It would really help next year’s batch if stats can be listed here (scores, GPA, location, ECs). Thanks!

My daughter got her EDII acceptance letter today! So excited for her! Stats were 2240 SAT, 4.0/4.5 GPA, pretty standard ECs, great summer programs at Stanford EPGY, great recs and interview- good luck to all who haven’t heard yet

Does anyone know when and how we will hear?

I heard RD came out today, and they’re using snail mail apparently.

That is correct. My daughter applied for RD and received the big white envelope today marked “Class of 2014”. We are all so excited. The admission letter was dated March 25th, so I guess these are going out already. Admit rate was pretty tough this year, at 5.8%…

390 is the class size they expect - they usually admit around 980…

haha common mistake!

** Accepted!!!**

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Latin Club (Historian, Treasurer, and Secretary), 4 years of basketball (senior/varsity captain), 13 years Kathak dance (I’ve taught classes too)
[] Job/Work Experience: I work at a laboratory doing some research. I get paid reasonably. I took care of my neighbors dog for a month once if that counts!
[] Volunteer/Community service: At least 300 hours volunteering with kids and in homeless shelters.
[] Essays: I talked about my dance and how it related to my culture and I also talked about my two hour dance solo I will be doing in April and what it means to me. My Pomona supplement was awesome I thought. I described one experience I had in Slovakia when we went to a castle where they were putting on an interpretation of Alice and Wonderland, and we had no clue what anyone was saying so we were laughing the whole time :slight_smile: I was a lot more casual with the supplement than my common app essay.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I didnt read them, but great I suppose!
[] Counselor Rec: Awesome - he really adores me.
[] Additional Rec:After I was deferred my coach sent an additional letter talking about my basketball awards and the leadership I showed on the team. Pretty good.
[] Interview: Great! It was kinda awkward since it was my first interview, but we connected I think!

[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
[] Intended Major: Biological Sciences (Pre-Med)
[] State (if domestic applicant): Southern California!
[] School Type: Large Competitive Public
[] Ethnicity: East Indian
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: very high
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): I contacted the coach to see if I could play basketball. She said athletics do not have much hold in the admissions office though. I thought I was unique! And i totally fit the laid back, yet hard working attitude at Pomona!

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: ACT score, Essays, Recommendations?, Uniqueness?
[] Weaknesses: GPA
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I actually applied Early Decision II and was deferred and was disheartened but I sent them an letter of continued interest and updated them on my awards and what I was doing and sent them an additional recommendation letter and got accepted! My athlete status probably helped a tad, but not much since I was deferred the first time around. This has always been my first choice and I think I really showed them that :D
[/li]

[/ul]General Comments:
I AM SO EXCITED! I LOVE POMONA! CAN’T WAIT TO BE A SAGEHEN!
I didn’t get any aid, but that was expected…
Wow life is great to me. :slight_smile:
Good luck to all of you who have not heard yet, and do not worry if you don’t get in. I was totally okay with being rejected and going to UCLA before I got the big packet today! There is a school for everyone.
