**Decision: Accepted! **

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Internationally competing choir (Section leader, soloist, awards), Musical Theater and vocal revues, school chamber choir, studied voice privately, piano
Job/Work Experience: Program Director for student-run a cappella group (70+ paid gigs per season), paid assistant conductor for elementary school age choir, cashiering/stocking at a local gourmet grocery store and coffee shop
Volunteer/Community service: National Charity League (Class VP), many hours with various organizations
Summer Activities: Choir tours and festivals, work, relaxing
Essays: Main common app was a relatively well-written rant about why I love music, but can never devote my life to it. My “fun” essay was a risky and really weird rant about walking around a local cemetery.
Teacher Recommendation: Didn’t read, but adore and trust the teachers who wrote them.
Counselor Rec: Didn’t read it. She likes me, but doesn’t know me very well and thinks I’m slightly neurotic. Probably decent.
Additional Rec: One from my choir conductor of 6 years.
Interview: Interviewed on campus and thought it went terribly.

Strengths: Grades, test scores, clear extra-curricular focus, personality and the way I think came across in essays, showed a strong interest in the school
Weaknesses: Lack of AP’s sophomore/junior year, no huge awards, singing white girl from the CA suburbs
Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Solid student, good writer, very involved in ec’s, good match for the school, very good art supplement
Where else were you accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Accepted: Wellesley (EE), UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCD, Occidental, Wesleyan, Northwestern. No rejections yet, but still waiting on several selective privates.
General Comments: Extremely surprised and absolutely elated!
