Just saw slumdog tonight – it was really, really good…

god, i’d hate to live in teh slums of India haha

I got an email for an interview today, too!

and … SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE! I LOVED IT.

I haven’t seen it yet =[

I saw the Curious case of benjamin button though. =]

Haha that was great too. Well, the concept was awesome and the execution wonderful, but it dragged on at some points (3 hours loooong) and the comic relief was more annoying than relief after the first couple times.

Oooh, I want to see Benjamin Button! I was going to go see it with free tickets from the national guard, but my dad accidently threw them out. :/

I wonder how many posts we can get in this thread before March 31.

BARACK OBAMA
44th PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
YES WE CAN.

YES WE CAN! Oh, wait, you mean we couldn’t before? And more importantly, what CAN we do that we couldn’t before?

sigh
Am I the only person left un-brainwashed by his sappy, overemotional rhetoric and ridiculously expensive, completely nonviable policies? I guess I’m just desensitized from all my years in Student Congress and Oratory, but frankly, I’ve met competitors at the national level who can speak far better than Obama (and whom I would readily vote for in 10 or 20 years WAY before him).
His followers have built up way too much of this “messiah” business, and they’re about to be in for a rude, disillusioning wakeup call.

I couldn’t vote because of age, but I would’ve written in Ron Paul :)

hookem, I agree with you about his overemotional rhetoric. just a tad over the top in my opinion.
but, i’m still hopeful!

is anyone still missing teacher recs on the app. tracker? :/

Hookem, I agree. He knows how to read a teleprompter and his notes well, off ‘book’, not so much.

Musicalgal- nope, my app is complete (thank goodness, I had a heck of a time with recs in the EA round) I hope they show up for you soon!

Hookem, I have to disagree as an extempter I watched his speech with much enthusiam, the thing he seems to possess that many others lack is the appropiate voice. I mean he has the right about of bass in his voice for it to resonant, which naturally lends his speech to an emotional quality. That is an amazing ability to have, if only…

zz -_- i HATE it when people misconstrue support for our president as a sign of general naivety/ignorance… its ironically ignorant on your part, hookem

are you serious bro? you’re not the only one that knows it’s going to be virtually impossible for him to implement all of his policies… but did you take the time to realize that his election could mean something much more than some laws and executive orders? perhaps acting as a long lasting symbol of change in government that will last for decades. Hmm, ya probably didnt…

“sigh” – how arrogant, along with pretty much the whole post… “but frankly, I’ve met competitors at the national level who can speak far better than Obama” … umm you tard. Did i ever say “OMG OBAMA IS THE #1 SPEAKER --NOONE IS BETTER THEN HIM!!” Did I? Seems like you interpreted it that way… (but i did NOT, in case you missed it) obviously there are better orators then him… Theres always going to be someone “better” then someone else is, at anything… but are the ppl you’re talking about running for president? no… so why bring them up? Idk… kinda beats me.

“His followers have built up way too much of this “messiah” business, and they’re about to be in for a rude, disillusioning wakeup call.”
How arrogant… Pretty pathetic man. “Messiah business” Are you for real? So you’re saying people can’t cut him some credit/view him as an idle for becoming the first black president (which if you try to downplay, in any way shape or form, you should just feel ashamed of yourself – bc i feel like you would be the type of person, judging by that last post, to downplay it)/a symbol of hope for the country after 8 years of complete ****hole?
“They’re” who are you referring to me? I feel like it was me… so maybe thts why i took it personally… but if you think for 1 second that i think he’s gonna pass every single one of his policies, then you should slit… you’re not the only enlightened one who knows how unrealistic this is…

overall, really weak… 0/10 on that post… i did not approve…

I agree with Acceptd.

One example of hookem being full of himself: bragging about how “he’s the kid who never studies but always breaks the curve.”

You shouldn’t judge/criticize others based on what you see on TV. Have you ever met Barack Obama? Do you know what he does at night?

I think it’s hilarious that a teenage boy thinks he is more experienced than Obama because he’s debated a couple of times.

^ vouch

example: said to some other CC’er, “don’t worry we’re both going to get in [to Princeton…]”

i hope karma comes into play here somewhere down the line

“I couldn’t vote because of age, but I would’ve written in Ron Paul”

OMG, I love Ron Paul SOOO much. He is my idol. :):):)

^ Ummm first of all, Acceptd you need to learn about a little thing called sarcasm. Nothing in my Obama comment was sarcastic, but that Princeton comment DEFINITELY was. Ask the person to whom it was addressed :)

Second of all, I’ll do my best to wade through your quagmire of disconnected, poorly spelled points.

I could go on…but I won’t.

People calm down. Hookem can disagree and whatever you don’t have to beat him up over it. Also don’t wish someone doesn’t get into a college they want, especially at this moment in time. (Unless you want karma on you as well-oh and I don’t believe in karma)

Wow hookem I am a minority and a young person and I am not taken in by charisma. Seriously I am a republican and voted McCain, but I realize that it is a very historic moment and I appreciate it, but that may be because I am black. So i guess I was just “taken in” by charisma. But I do agree that some people of our generation may be attracted to him on the basis of him being black and populist.

Yep, the problem with a populist message is that people shift. Remember where president Bush once was sitting on a high approval rating (and it was that same overwhelming approval that allowed the Bush administration to do whatever they wanted–hint hint Obama administration) so i wonder where Obama’s will be eventually.

^ Out of curiosity, did anybody see that hilarious report where some guy walked through Brooklyn, asking Obama supporters random political questions?!!! It was worse than Jaywalking on the Tonight Show!

One time, he asked a guy “So what d’ya think about Obama’s pick for VP, Sarah Palin?”

The man replied “Oh, I heartily support it. Barack always makes good decisions.”

bahahahahahaha

Oh, and Dbate, I understand, but you have to realize, you are probably in the tiniest percentile you can imagine of black males younger than 21, or even of people in general younger than 21!
