Does anyone believe namspams was actually accepted?

Yea, I definetely think that it's wrong to say that legacy automatically gets you in....seeing that...it didn't help my case too much

totally agreed with you.

Hey. Deferred and surprisingly okay with it.

However, I'm letting go of Pton, I still have apps to do and I don't want to dwell, so I won't be posting stats.

if anyone wants to contact me leave a private message and I'll get you my sn/e-mail.

Best of luck to everyone. And to those who apply next year- being deferred isn't at all bad. I sort of feel like I've been unchained now.

Congrats to those who were accepted.

LOL, rejected and surprisingly chipper. As for why, I suspect it is because they never got my entire application. After they sent the "missing parts" email, I never got a confirmation, and when I called right before thanksgiving they didn't have my SAT 2 scores or my teacher evaluation, but they had everyone elses SAT 2 scores shrug

I think I figured it out the morning I woke up before the mail came though, somewhat strange. I am very surprised at how happy and un-upset I am very odd reaction for me. But I am completely okay with it. Lol, even if my mom is convinced that I am horrendously depressed and am pretending, she was more upset than me I think. I love my mom, she was so shocked I didn't get in, I kept telling her to relax.

But it was a really good experience, if I hadn't ever applied, I wouldn't have met ya'll. Thanks so much for everything! I'll probably hang around a bit before I disappear. Double congratulations to everyone who got in and was deferred! Ya'll are amazing and I'm sure you'll do well. Still sending in a thank-you to Princeton anyway, the admissions people are really nice and completely rock.

The only feeling I am left with now is a happy puzzlement of where to go now and bittersweetly happy feelings for the amazing school Princeton is. May you all reach your dreams! I know somewhere, somehow I can still reach mine. Merry Christmas!!!

Oh, Sweetest - so sorry to hear that and totally surprised as well.

For all you CC members out there -- I have had the pleasure of emailing Sweetest back and forth a few times and she is a wonderful person truly deserving of going to Princeton.

Princeton REALLY missed the boat on this one. She is a catch!

Accepted! But I don't know how to use the format

There seems to be a lot more acceptances this year than last (for CC). I think it might be because lurkers who were accepted posted their first post / stopped lurking to post on the decision thread. Lurkers who were deferred / rejected probably didn't feel the same need to come out of hiding. I'm sure it happened last year too, but not to such an extent.

Anyhoo, congratulations to everyone, whatever the decision. I didn't really expect to be accepted, but waiting in those last few days... really got my imagination going. I still love Princeton the most and maybe the 1% chance that I won't get rejected RD will come through for me. Everyone, including Mother, has told me that the college I go to won't dictate my future success. I know that's true and all, but I just wanted to spend my four years of college life at Princeton for the experience. Alas, they don't want me.

Re to Surfandturf about partying at princeton:

I might not be the greatest authority on this topic, but I do live nearby and the eating clubs seem pretty active. On a party scale, it's not University of Alabama, but it's no where near MIT dullness..(apologies to anyone who is looking at MIT). It's definitely a balance of work and play- so I hear- but I went to lawn parties last year with a friend and they were great!

Wait- who the heck is namspams1? That post was probably the most randomly and quasi-offensive thing I've read on here.. I don't even know what to make of it.. wow.

Damn right it is- makes me want to puke my ****ing guts out, to be honest. I sincerely hope it's some sort of joke.

Deferred...i'll see you guys in march...i might post my stats later. What namspams said was exaggerated to a certain extent, but not entirely false. My uncle went to princeton, and he and i talked last night and he basically said that 1/3rd of who they accept are legacies, 1/3rd are athletes, and half the last 1/3rd are URMs--what's left is the white middle class kids who all look the same unless something makes them stand out. It was kind of hard to hear, but regardless of how we might be deluding ourselves, it is true. Those other factors have huge pull at princeton, and really, at pretty much any ivy.

Many, many athletes have excellent academic credentials which look like those of any other accepted student. They have one EC that is a sport where they perform at a level that is among the best in the COUNTRY or the WORLD. That's what Princeton is looking for. It takes a lot of time to get this good...perhaps as much time as a concert violinist, the founder of a soup kitchen or a debate champ. Schools like Princeton cannot accept sports goons because the school wants students to thrive not barely succeed. As the mom of an athlete who is an excellent student and was accepted at Princeton, I'm proud of my student athlete. This is not just a lesson in applying to college, this is a life lesson. The world works this way, you must compete every day, all the time, on multiple fronts because there is always someone out there who is motivated to show everyone she is smarter, faster, stronger, more creative, etc. while being funny and kind and resilient. Learn well, Grasshoppers, we'll have another test in four years...
