[li] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: No great ECs and they told my counselor when I was deferred ED that they dubious about my abilities cuz I've studyed for a school in the US for only a year... probably why they let me down. [/li][/ul]Other Factors:**

if i had got in, my theme song would have been Flying Without Wings. But i didnt get in, so i dont have the time to pick a theme song (IIT Entrance Exam on 10th....)

I'm really sorry too, merc. You're such a talented individual that it's really hard to see why Princeton would reject you. Still, you've proven yourself to be both resilient and resourceful, so I'm confident that you will be successful in whatever you're doing this time next year. I think this is crap, but I guess there's nothing to do about it now :( You're awesome, though. And you definitely helped make the ED group as fun and close-knit as it was. Best of luck, man!

Congragulations to all accepted from a mom (S ED deferred and rejected). From what a colleague says, P's alumni is supposedly the most well-connected and well-worked and well-bonded of all the ivies and near-ivies. His Father-in-law and two brothers-in-law went to P. He says that it is one place where people take care of each other the best. So I am excited for all of you. I am sure that it is one hell of a base for your futures. P is an awesome suburb, a nice and quiet upsacle neighbourhood, and lots of greenery. Have fun all of you !

As for those rejected, yes, it is a chance of a lifetime missed, but you can all strive to create a P wherever you go, in however small a way. This forum has given an opportunity to stay well-connected with all the P-wannabees that got in and did not get in, and I hope you will all stay in touch, and help and support each other along throughout your lives. Finally, that is what counts, being able to count on some good people of great intellect and equally great integrity.

Phil, you are a wonderful guy, with lovely thoughts for everyone, I hope you will take the lead in keeping this network tight. May be a yahoo group of P-wannabees of class 2009 :-)

Wow, sugee, thanks so much for the compliment. Yeah, the people who've been on this forum since August (and some who arrived just a couple of weeks ago) have bonded so well so quickly. I'm amazed. It really excites me that I'm going to go to college OR keep in contact with such supportive people. It's been one of the highlights of my year, and I'm not ashamed to say it. Besides just meeting such great people, I've learned a lot about the college admissions process that no doubt helped me get into Princeton and help out my friends from real time (strange classification, ha!) with their own applications. I'm indebted to CC for offering so much in terms of friendship and admissions advice.

That said, I wonder what this forum will be like when the next round of applicants come through...KEEP THE PTON CC LOVE ALIVE, NEWBIES! :)

My very, very best wishes to you, and mark my words, you will be there. They say, when you want something really really badly, the whole world conspires to give it to you. Well, I am not saying that the other people who have been rejected did not want it so badly. But people like you are going a head beyond, by staying resolved on getting in even if it costs another year. I know every person, including my husband, who got into IIT in India on a second attempt, when they tried. That kind of stubborness has paid off everytime.

I will see you in NJ next year, do visit us when you arrive.

Phil,

I was visiting all the forums here, nothing like the bonding and camradeire that was there in the P forum. There was so much of wishing and praying for each other. The whole experience was incredible. That is the only reason I wish Kayoshin had got in. To be a part of such a wonderful group of people.

[ *] Essays: it was bad/okay, i wrote in during winterbreak so you can guess it was a last minute thing. i had to spend my new years eve writing an essay for yale since their apps were due 12/31 and not 1/1. now I wish i just went out and partied instead of hoping to get into princeton or yale

[ *] major strength/weakness: pretty solid courses, honors and APs, pretty okay GPA i think, only 1 B and it was freshmen year and i cried for 2 hours for that, i got it because i was late to class 15 times and i was never again late for any classes after that
[ *] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: bad SAT verbal scores. i wish i had like a 1500+ SAT and i did while i did the practise tests in teh summer but then school started and i had to keep up with my classes. HONESTLY, i spent my whole summer memorizing a dictionary. my verbal scores were stellar afterwards, but then i forgot all the words by december. so people, take the SAT in september if you plan on memorizing the dictionary!
[ /list][ b]Other Factors:[ /b] BAD SAT score! not that much EC i guess... i had some... but i had suuuch a good portfolio my art teacher loved me so much and i even sent princeton/yale/harvard my slides. it took me 4 years to collect that portfolio i was sooo in love with art and i used to spend 10 hours on sunday or something on a piece but i guess they dont really care even though they say they do about my fine arts crap. oh well. i guess ill just go to Wellsley. maybe itll be a good change for me.
