Official Princeton Rd Decisions

Haha, good job everyone!

Decision: I GOT THE BIG, FAT LETTER

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 1500 790V, 710M
[] SAT IIs: 800, 780, 780, 770
[] GPA: 4.4/4.5 ~ 4.0/4.0 because my school's weird
[] Rank: 1/94
[] Other stats:AP Euro 5, IB Phys SL 6, IB Math SL 7
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: gc said it was one of the best she has ever read (she's 65), english teacheres loved it, i frankly didn't see what was so good about it. That was one essay, the other two were okay. I also sent in an extra essay for the supplemental what else would you like us to know.
[] Teacher Recs:never read them, but they should be fairly good. one teacher thinks i have a gift for the languages, another really likes for some reason but don't know why, the other two are okay. They don't really know me too much but write the best recs in the school, so my gc says. I had 4 recs, and my gc sent them all in.
[] Counselor Rec: never read it, but she thinks i'm the best applicant overall in my school's history, so it should be pretty good
[] Hook (if any):nothing
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: New York
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Female
[] Gender: Asian
[] major strength/weakness: None, just well-rounded
[li] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: I have no idea. I can't understand why I've been receiving all these acceptances. I have to let it sink over the weekend. I've always that you had to be amazing to get into an Ivy, but I'm just so "ordinary"! [/li][/ul]Other Factors: Full IB candidate, sent in art supplement, sent in extra letter of recommendation from community service leader, and one of my essays was about this experience, also won AFS Awards for Excellence, and I sent them a letter about this last Tuesday, so probably received them exactly one week before the decisions got sent out. Don't know if that helped. Only local leadership, leader of 2 school clubs, 4 year participation in a couple of other clubs and one varsity sport. Nothing national or state-wide.

Also got into Yale, Harvard, Brown PLME, Amherst, Wellesley, Binghamton, Geneseo (SUNY) I am still COMPLETELY SHOCKED. I am convinced that if anything, it was the essays and the recommendations. I didn't think the essays were that great, but I can't find any other reason.

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted! And congratulations to ivyboy; I'm so glad you got in!

I live in Oregon... I hope I get something soon.

If I don't get my letter tomorrow, I'll cry.

...but then I'll just log back in to Yale's admissions site and listen to the fight song to cheer up. ;)

Yes Valdez it was the Texas French Symposium. Unfortunately I could not participate (except for soccer) since I lived in a country where French was the official language for more than 6 months. Were you there last year at Alief Taylor?

CONGRATS suburbian!!!!!! And vivaldi, yes, the Yale fight song is a good one to cheer anyone (that is, those accepted) up. Me, I am looking at the MIT site. Too bad it doesn't really have a fight song, except for that cosine, tangent, secant, sine,3.14159... which is... motivating? Oh well... :) wishing for something tomorrow also.

Decision: Accepted

I am very glad I decided not to apply to MIT...that makes me shudder...:p

so the acceptance is a letter (granted a fat one) and not a packet/big envelope?

No, it's definitely a big packet / folder thing.

It is a big envelope

haha vivaldi. i know... the more i research this college... the more...
best not to think that. i am gonna just delay any sort of judgement, go and see it, and just assume i would find some sort of a niche and enjoy college (thus the reason i am really counting on pton...). mit is definately... unique. btw... the song keeps on going. and the mascot? someone told me it was the "engineers"... kinda... (not?) unique?

oh well... I am sure I would enjoy it... (desperately telling myself over and over to try to convince myself) I am sure...

What do you want to major in? As long as it isn't a "soft"/"fuzzy" major - and as long as your survival isn't bound to an intense study of the liberal arts - you should enjoy MIT immensely. :)

This is sick. Look at all these acceptances.
