Ok I didn’t even care about getting in but dang the beginning of that rejection letter was cold…
Congrats everyone on acceptances. This is my third rejection (rejected from Columbia, MIT, Princeton). I’m pretty bummed because I have a 4.0 at a grade deflation Ivy League school, was in the top 10 at my high school, 1500 SAT, and put a ton of effort and soul into my essays for all the schools. Haven’t been accepted anywhere yet. Still waiting on the next four and hoping for better things – I guess Penn and Brown do accept more transfers.
Lmao I got into cornell CAS so I’m good, Princeton was def a hail mary
Rejected
@AGoodFloridian Oh my god congratulations!!! You deserve it so much!
Rejected. All well. One less school/decision I have to worry about now.
Ah… the sunset on this summit, I’ve longed for it. Thank you all for the kind words. I said it before, but it’s worth saying again, I’m here for any application advice for any future transfers. I won’t be on this site as much in the coming times, might be a bit busy having my ass kicked at Princeton, but I’ll make time to help anyone who needs it. I’ll follow up with my stats, just a moment.
3.91 GPA , at 60 credits, from a community college. Applied Physics major, so that GPA comes from some of the more challenging coursework my college has to offer.
34 ACT
2 experimental physics internships at different national labs in the country. One at Princeton. <3
One of the 47 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholars
URM, low-income, first generation student and immigrant. I’m not sure how much “hooks” play a role in transfer admissions.
Rec letters were probably very strong, never read them but the professors who wrote have been following me on this process for years now.
I’ll be starting Princeton as a sophomore, so I “lost” a year. A small price to pay for literally a full ride+ at my top choice. If you want to get down to gritty, feel free to PM me.
@AGoodFloridian congrats!! you deserve it so much, that’s freaking amazing and you’ve made history
I got waitlisted, for what it’s worth. I’m a CS/EECS major. Pretty exciting, but I think I’d prefer UC Berkeley (got accepted last week) over Princeton anyway, still contemplating.
Waitlisted as well. Very humbled. Will hope for the best! Congratulations @AGoodFloridian
@AGoodFloridian I’ve seen your comments everywhere in transfers and I am SO EXCITED for you!!! You are one of the few, congrats!
Princeton announcement - accepted 13 transfer students out of 1429 applications:
Rejected… Just checked the portal
@AGoodFloridian I think an internship might help me. How did you find one? Did you take classes at the community college while doing the internship?
@IndirectProofs Hey there! The internship I did was part of the Department of Energy’s Community College Internship program. (Google search CCI program for more info). From our interactions, I know you’re a pure mathematics major, right? I’m not sure if the program would 100% align with your goals; you’d need something a little more theoretical. I highly encourage you to look into the many REU programs at universities across the nation.

This is a good one. It’s almost like a “commonapp” for REUs, designed for more nontraditional students. There are plenty of others out there. If I could give some personal advice, learn a programming language. They’re invaluable for internships, believe me. I’m biased, but it’s hard to go wrong with Python or Matlab. Feel free to PM if you need any more advice
Hello @AGoodFloridian ! I’m interested in potentially transferring from community college to a four year school in the Fall of 2019. Princeton would be my dream school for studying philosophy. Although you’re a STEM major, as I choose my courses for this upcoming year, could I still have your advice? I would really appreciate it (:
(I’m fairly new to this website, and though I would’ve preferred to PM you, I don’t know how to PM people despite my troubleshooting…wondering if I’m missing a few buttons on my CC account here…haha)
Also – congratulations on your acceptance to Princeton, what an exciting journey, and may it be fulfilling for you (:
@TheWrongHooks you can’t PM until you post more (10 I believe).
@psywar Oof, i didn’t know that!
@psywar thanks so much
