Official Princeton University Fall 2018 transfer thread

Personally, anxiety only starts to settle in the day before decisions come out, and gets intense the day of. I promised myself I wouldn’t get too worked up about colleges in April- everything is submitted and out of my hands. I know May is gonna get fun so I just want to take this month to relax lol

@AGoodFloridian I feel the same way. I was really stressed out about the whole thing, but I am starting to relax and be more positive.

So excited to see transfers coming back to Princeton, I think you will bring so much to the school.

WE ARE ALMOST THERE!!!

any news on decision date?

@vicangie , no. Safest bet is that we’ll receive an e-mail telling us when decisions will be released (either an exact day or a rough estimate).
Are you a prospective transfer student from UChicago?

@AGoodFloridian
yep

@vicangie Awesome! I thought about applying there as a transfer student but I figured I had too many selective colleges on my list as is. What’s lacking there that you’d find at Princeton, if I can ask?

About two weeks away! Can you believe it?

@CC12342021 Yeah, I’m nearing the end of my internship here at Princeton and it’s got me sad :confused: Spring is finally starting, flowers are blossoming all around campus and it’s just… breathtaking. Hopefully it won’t be the last time I’m seeing the campus, but I’m making the most of my last week here as if it were.

Princeton’s campus is breathtaking to say the least. @AGoodFloridian we are all hoping for some good news, and i believe it will be. #GodsPlan

@Confusedfreak Princeton didn’t have a transfer program open for fall of 2017… fall 2018 is the first year of transfers in almost 30 years!!

@AGoodFloridian
sorry for the late reply.
I just applied to 2colleges. Princeton , this fall is first year of tansfer promgram.

When is the decision date? who knows ?

@AGoodFloridian how did you get an internship at Princeton? Could you give me more details please?

@CC12342021 how did you get an internship at Princeton ?

@victom the admission office says they haven’t set the date yet, and they will send an email to every applicant once they do

I have a 2.5 gpa from a long time ago, and although I retook all the classes I got poor grades in and got A’s I do not think it will be enough to get into Princeton, even with all my achievements in mathematics. It is sad, but something I just have to accept. So, I have a 2.5 gpa, and a 4.0 gpa at a different school same classes repeated, but the first gpa will rule me out!

I wish you all the best of luck though! I am pulling for all of you :slight_smile:

I have a learning disability, and that’s the reason for my low grades prior. Once I was able to get alternative testing, I got 100’s on my exams, but it’s so sad that this will not erase a bad record. If only you could get in on talent alone, but you can’t you have to present strong academic records which I’ll obviously not have.

I don’t know if this helps anyone out, but I complied a bit of research for figuring out expected decision dates for other schools I’m applying to, some being Ivy Leagues. They are based on previous years decisions and other factors:

UCLA: Wednesday, April 25
UC Berkeley: Friday, April 27
Columbia: Wednesday, May 02 (Was May 03 last year, a Wednesday)
Harvard: Friday, May 04 (Was May 05 last year, a Friday)
U-Penn: Potentially Tuesday, May 01
Yale and Stanford: Wednesday, May 09
Brown: Potentially Thursday, May 10

In all honesty, I’m taking a partial guess and assuming Princeton will release decisions on Wednesday, May 09 or Friday, May 11.
