Official Private School Transfer Thread

Only private school that I applied to is Tulane. I wanted to apply to Cornell, but decided against it, since even if I got in, money would be a huge issue...

I've posted my stats so many times around these boards in the last few weeks, that if you really want to know them just look around, they're everywhere.

I have a question. Do you have that message you spread around throughout this website on a word document or do you have it memorized and write it every time your little heart desires?
Nothing personal, it's just funny; I've seen it like on five different threads.
Anyhow, one more question. Which community college in Florida?

What message? My stats? How hard it to do copy and paste from one another? Not exactly rocket science is it? :D

Indian River :) Pioneers

...abd btw I have a big heart :D

true.
Have you heard from any of the institutions you applied to?
I am also a student from a community college in Florida. I am applying to Duke, Miami and UCF.

I haven't heard yet. My first will be Middlebury I think, April 8 :) and from then till the end of May. Pure torture!

Helen

I'm applying to a long list... Smith, Wellesley, Haverford, Swarthmore, University of Chicago, Rice, Carleton (applying as a 1st year), Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, and Yale (in no particular order). Whew!!!

I'll hear from Carleton, Smith, Wellesley, and UChicago in early to mid April. I'll hear from Yale, Rice, Haverford, and Stanford in mid to late May. I'll hear from Swarthmore and Carnegie Mellon in June.

Did you have to take out a loan to pay for the application fees??

Hey thought I'd update you all, I actually discovered a few hours ago that I did get accepted to Tulane. It seems that they had the wrong address on my admissions packet, so it never got to me. When I called to find out what was going on (since I had recieved nothing) she told me on the phone that their records show I've been admitted!

Umm... I think you have good chances at Brown and Columbia (assuming your acheivement is good). I wouldn't be surprised if you got into Harvard or Yale, although all three of those outside of Brown have extremely low acceptance rates for transfers. I don't mean to get your hopes up... but I don't undersatnd why you expect rejections from all. None of those acceptances are certain given the low acceptance rates.. but you appear to be a very competitive applicant.

Thanks for your comment. Still, with the percentages so low at these schools . . . I'm not expecting much. Good luck yourself with UVA.

Remember... Brown's acceptance rate for transfers is higher than it's acceptance rate for freshman...

And at least you are at a good school if you don't get in...

I really liked Ithaca's journalism program.. but I'm switching majors and there's no way I'm staying here for business... (the program isn't good/unaccredited although there is an outside shot of accreditation for next year I guess but I don't really like it here anyways outside of the communications program). If I don't get into one of the schools I'm applying to, then I'm sitting out a semester...

My biggest problem is a lack of pre-requisites, since I'm switching majors.

Oh yeah, private schools I'm applying to, since I haven't posted in this thread:
Penn, WUSTL, Cornell, and NYU, along with three publics: UVA, UNC, and Michigan.

HS: 4.0 u/w, really high weighted GPA (not sure what it was), rank: 1/about 400 or 500, 1380
College: 3.68 Cum. GPA (not including midterms for this semester); 3.78 midterms... only negative was a 3.46 was last semester which I fear will give adcoms second thoughts about accepting me
Strong ECs (at least I think)
Good Essays (some were better than others, but overall, I've received positive feedback on all of them)
Not sure about rec's (assuming they are good... I've only read one which was decent... but I'm thinking the one from my college advisor should be really good)

You all realize that Brown as a rule offers NO financial aid whatsoever to transfer students, right?

Sure it does ^_^ Just not too much.

http://www.browndailyherald.com/news/2005/03/04/Columns/No.Money.For.Today-886003.shtml

While I wait rather impatiently for USC, I am wondering if any transfers have heard from Pepperdine. Their website says transfers will be notified by April 1st, but was curious to see if anyone has heard yet.
Kyle

Congrats, Allena!

I'm applying to Pepperdine as a soph. transfer, have not received anything yet! I called admissions to ask for my app status and she said "You have to wait until your letter on the 1st" so it will probably be sent on or close to April 1st. Good luck!

Anyone have any idea of my chances look like for Wesleyan and Tufts?? THanks!

Not sure about Wesleyan... but Tufts has a pretty nice acceptance rate for a school of it's caliber. I think 35-40% last year. Although I'm not positive. Umm.. how were your SATs/ACTs?

SInce you seem to have had a good end to HS, hopefully the 3.3 cumulative GPA won't help you. Could possibly even help you since you had a "turnaround."
