***OFFICIAL PSAT Wednesday, October 12

Ok, for the sentence completion with were the guy yoked tradition words and challenged social issues.

Yoked means to join together, so we are looking for something that means language and another word that means challenging social issues.

I didn't choose the partisan politics one b/c social issues may not necessary relate to politics, that is a stretch, and partisan is firm adherence to a party, but the sentence talked of language usage, which would fit the convention dissent answer.

It sounds like partisanship works, but I'm not sure how political fits in with "traditional poems or language". That sounds more like convention and since dissent is the opposite of convention I thought that created the right contrast.

dissent just seemed to negative ........

Well dissent just means to go against conventional ideas, the second part of the sentence (whatever it is) seems to indicate that.

I put convention...dissent for the exact reasons as jasonng said. Yeah, dissent sounds very negative, but that's what the sentence required.

I think it's so interesting that some people are saying how hard the sentence completions/CR sections were--I thought they were ridiculously easy, like simplified AP questions. But then again, I think I got my *** handed to me on a platter for the math section though, and it seemed to be no sweat for some of you. Basically, I hate the PSAT.

then maybe you are right ... it kind of makes sense I guess... I was between A and B ... I choose A in the end . .. but it could of been B as well

I got 5 total wrong for critical reading .. anyone want to guess what my score would be?

I guess it depends on what you're good at, I think the math questions are generally very easy but my english isn't that great, I always get a couple questions wrong.

according the the curve on the bulletin that would be a 690. ^^

What did everyone get for the question where it asked what was the author's purpose in talking about the doctor?

For the doctor one I put the one with "mindset" in it.

You guys are right....traditional is conventional....I can't believe I knew that and missed it! :(...I actually knew that. But I guess it's an equalizer since I guessed on a couple and got them right. That's the first question on the PSAT I know for sure that I got wrong. Boo.

I actually thought the PSAT was easy in general...
If the curve is good 2200+
Curve sucks = 2100 most likely ...
I mean I would like to get NFSM or F, but some juniors had a discussion with the gc and she said really good colleges see Commended as a big achievement .. SF is just an added bonus

do you guys remember the sentence completion with the answer choices a) callowness b) evasiveness and I don't remember the rest of the choices or the question itself

I put c) ardor for that one. The sentence was about a violinist who played passionately.

finally! i got one .... lol ... yea, the answer was ardor ... they were talking about him being confident, strong, brave...

The sentence completion with the 2 portraits of a victim and the conqueror .. was the answer juxtapose or complement

I put juxtapose, thanks to some last night vocab cramming.

I put juxtapose...I'm pretty sure that was it.

juxtapose ... my A.P teacher told us in class (he looked over the test)

vinny380: Wohoo Again! LoL! Hopefully this time someone won't rain on my parade...
