Does that mean QB essays can replace the main CommonApp essay and the little EC section? What about the supplement essays? I can’t find anything pertaining directly.

I believe that you still have to do their supplements. From my understanding, Princeton U has yet to release its supplement. Stanford, on the other hand, has released its supplement, and they still expect it, come time for regular decision.

Ultimately, I would E-mail Princeton and Stanford to double check, but I think you can find it on the QB website somewhere too.

edit: on the QB site, it says that regular decision w/QB application information for Princeton U is “coming soon.”

I have a question about this. I got invited to the QB program, and am interested as I am pretty sure I qualify. However, does the program not allow me to apply to any other place while decision is being made? I basically have to apply to UF/FSU as in-state more or less certain accepts (Over 80% of IB seniors in my school are accepted by UF/FSU). Can someone clear this up? Am I allowed to apply to FSU and UF, then QB?

Urk… now I’m not sure I want to do Scripps through Questbridge. I’m an Chinese female.

The difficulty is–well, I’m not sure I want to apply to Scripps ED because of the whole unknown financial aid thing. Would it be justified to go through Questbridge hoping for a miracle, and also for the Questbridge stamp? Scripps has a merit scholarship opportunity for applicants who apply by November, regardless of early decision or regular decision, but if I do Questbridge, I don’t think the application will qualify (past November).

I am hearing MANY opinions on this, but I really really need a finalized deicion ASAP.

SHOULD I apply QB or EA or MIT?

Which one would give me a better chance of getting in?

I know that the money if the problem, but I would rather get in and then deal with the fiancial stuffs since all the good colleges have good pakages offered.

Can someone please answer my question, I really need to know.
Can I fill out my QB application and then apply to some colleges not with EA, but just a normal application?

If by “normal application” you mean Regular Decision, then yes, you are still allowed (and encouraged) to apply to other universities in the case that you do not receive admission into the College Match Program. However, if you do get accepted through college match (assuming that you are accepted to a BINDING partner college), you are expected to request that your other applications be canceled and prepare to attend that partner institution.

On a side note:
Many of you are asking questions that can be found on Questbridge’s website. If you are even interested in this program, then I suggest you take the time to understand the benefits and the requirements of the application.

^^^This is your official source to knowing “what’s up,” and you should become familiar with it so that when the time comes (Sept. 30th) for you to turn in your application, you are left with minuscule, if any at all, misunderstanding.

^I’m not 100% sure, but I believe you have to be a finalist in order to apply to partner colleges through QB in the RD round. However, the plan you have listed is perfectly fine, as long has you are a finalist.

The thread from last year, full of great information:

You don’t have to be a finalist to apply to QB partner schools in the RD round, however only some schools waive the application fee for non-finalists. Many you would still be required to pay but you would still have the advantage of the more extensive QB application. To find out which schools do and which don’t waive the non-finalist fees, read the QB website. ALL this information can be found out by taking a little time and doing so.

Would you guys recommend against explaining C’s under the section where it asks you to clarify or give any additional details regarding your academic performance?

Sections like that are usually reserved for death of an immediate family member, or other extreme tragedy that impacted you so severly as to disrupt your normal grade patterns. Other than than, no.

oh ok, that’s what I thought. It’s only one C but I ask because I don’t want the people at Questbridge who review my app to think I’m trying to sweep it under the rug

I have to agree with you about the conference at Yale this summer. It was AMAZING!! So much valuable information. My son has most of his application completed for College Match and is working on his essays as we speak.

If I only want to apply to the regular decision process, should I even submit an application for the National College Match? I’m not sure how it works. I NEED to retake the SAT, take the ACT w/writing, and two subject tests. I haven’t done any of these yet, so there would no point of my doing the National College Match that is due in September. I’m definitely going to do Questbridge for UVa, Emory, and Penn (how many schools are we allowed?) I’m SO excited that UVa was added, because it is definitely my top choice, being from Virginia and all.

^I don’t think you can submit a National College Match application without any test scores. I think Regular Decision is the same application, just due later… nice about UVa!

IBfearless, submit your application with any scores you have, and sign up ASAP for the September or October test dates. Once you sign up, put those dates down on your application but just leave the scores blank. You can then forward them to the partner schools. Any testing done in October however will not be used by QB for finalist status, only for the Match (if you make finalist with current scores) and RD. Is there an ACT in September? If you take that you can self report a faxed copy of your ACT score site to QB and they would consider it. D did that a couple of years ago.
