Official Questbridge National College Match 2010-2011

Oh when you say short answer questions do you mean just the ones under “interests”?

I think so there was one that asked you to list all the books you’ve read within the past year, and then the books that you’ve been assigned to read that you’ve enjoyed and then another that asked about all the websites you’ve read… or something along those lines I don’t remember

yeah under interests it asks
List the books you read for pleasure in the past year:
List the required readings you enjoyed most in the past year:
List the films, performances, exhibits, concerts, shows, etc. you enjoyed most in the past year:

and then the main essay asks Please tell us what you find most appealing about Columbia and why:

but it says short response, so I guess they’re looking for about around a 500 word/ page to page and a half response

Ohh right. And yeah 1500 characters so more like 300 words. Thanks.

Wait…if two of my schools that I ranked require Common App, (Columbia and Stanford) then doesn’t one conflict with the other? Because you can’t apply ED to more than one school, yet that’s exactly what you’re doing through Questbridge right? Cuz you have to select “early decision” on the Common App supplement don’t you?

On the Questbridge website, it states that one must forward SAT/ACT scores as soon as one is notified of finalist status on October 22nd. Since College Board provides four free score reports as part of registering for the SAT/Subject Tests, I took advantage of that and listed each of the three colleges that I ranked as my score report recipients for ALL my scores.

HOWEVER, since October SAT scores don’t come out until October 29th, will my ranked colleges get my scores in time by the November 1st deadline? 2-3 days is really cutting it.

Would it be better to be safe than sorry and just pay the $30 to send my (old) SAT scores on Oct 22nd (if I make finalist status that is)?

PLEASE GET BACK TO ME YOU GUYS. I’m leaving for a flight to Williams College tonight and won’t be able to do anything for 4-5 days, so time is of the essence.

^^^^

The schools you ranked are not going to be making a decision ON November 1st. I wouldn’t pay to have them sent. They will get them in time for match decisions. JMO.

You will be fine. I think all the schools say that October scores arrive in time for the College Match round. Have fun at Williams!

Wait…if two of my schools that I ranked require Common App, (Columbia and Stanford) then doesn’t one conflict with the other?
Anyone know for sure? Much appreciated!

you can send them once they come…im taking the act on the 23rd and im just going to send them in mid nov once they are available

you dont select ED you select RD…check on the Questbridge website for the requirements for each college

Does anyone know if finalist notification still comes out on the 22nd?

i think last year the server crashed and it still came out the right day. i’m wondering what time they might come out though?

^ Me too.

Is anyone else starting to get a little nervous? TWO MORE DAYS. =D

I’m getting deathly nervous too. Time goes by so slowly when I think about it, but I can’t stop thinking about it!

Good luck to all!

Hey guys I have a question. In case we get the finalist status, how can we indicate that on the common app?

I believe on the Common App you can indicate awards somewhere. If not, you can attach a resume in additional materials and mention that there.

I’m getting super antsy! Tomorrow is my Birthday, the Questbridge Finalists are announced AND my school is taking a tour of Garmin’s Headquarters. It’ll end up being a great Friday or a really really bad one.

Do any of you know whether colleges will see the QB teacher recommendations and the common app ones or will they only see the common app ones? Is it okay to use the same recommender for common app as we did with the QB app?

I select “regular decision” on the Common App if I become a finalist? That doesn’t make sense…
