Did anyone else just have their “Checklist for College-Specific Requirements” disappear? I just finished something and was going to put in the date but it’s gone… mysterious…

Me too!! Do you think the QB staff has already left since it’s now 5:40 Pacific time?!

@reuben2011

No, I didn’t see the recs, that’s just the sense I got.

@GnuYorker I had essentially the same stats as you: 4.3 GPA, 35 ACT, average ECs, great recs and I was rejected too, so don’t feel to bad, that makes two of us. Maybe my essays were bad after all.

I was pretty disappointed but there must be some criteria that they evaluate besides the stated ones of income, test score, recs, etc. I had an F2 visa at the time of the application…do you think that affected it? Oh well…time to get started on those Common App regular decisions I guess.

If you still haven’t gotten a reply, this is from last year’s forum.

I think it just takes them a long time. Do something else. You’ll go crazy if you’re just staring and waiting.

I have pretty much those same stats and was also rejected. :(

Does anyone think that maybe QuestBridge is intentionally shying away from those whose income is on the border for qualification? Reading past threads about QuestBridge match recipients I saw several that had phenominal stats but incomes of $50,000 or so that were not matched. So maybe QuestBridge has figured out that most schools won’t match those with incomes around $60,000-$50,000 and denied them to give them a chance at the ED/EA rounds at schools?

@owl Well my parents’ income was <$40,000 so I really don’t know. However I’m sure the people at QB know exactly what they’re looking for. I’m getting over it; I understand that finaid is getting more and more generous every year and schools have a different evaluation process than QB. I’ll just have to work extra hard with those RD apps.

snowing, i’m eastern time too, no reply at all
since there seems to be multiple people out there who haven’t gotten it yet, I wouldn’t get that anxious waiting anymore

You are right Physicsnut1

Looking at last year’s forum, that person did not reply again to this situation (he/she did not get an email the next day). I am still really worried. I submitted my application before the crash and had everything in on time.

@owlwise, my income is <$100 less than $60,000, and I’m a Finalist.

Snowing- If your QB page says it has been completed and submitted, then don’t worry, its been sent. If the person from last year didn’t comment back, then it means she/he received it otherwise he/she would have posted to complain about not getting it. Whether you know now or later won’t matter. If you are worried, then do the supplements, they do not take too much time. And between the CSS and transcripts, they’re regular processes anyways.

Still no letter here (I’m mountain time btw)

Can we email/call QB now…are they still sending out notifications?

Check your spam/trash folder in your email to see if it might be there. If it doesn’t show up sometime tonight, email QB. They are closed over the weekend I think. Don’t panic yet! I know a student whose email bounced during the College Prep round. It turns out they did get a College Prep award, so don’t rush to any assumptions based on an email not showing up yet.

snowing I guarantee that you will get an email sooner or later.

The Requirements section is no longer on the My Locker page for me either. They must be making changes; there was a link to a Forum page there for a little bit, and now it’s gone, too.

Rejected

Canadian PR, 3.8/4.3 GPA, <20k income, 2330 SAT Reasoning, 1600 SAT Subjects, fairly good EC’s with a couple of national awards, unknown recs and average essays.

W T F is the only thing on my mind right now

I am sorry to hear that, mathematicism. When did you receive the notification? Still nothing in my inbox/spam. I am going to emial QB at 11PM if I don’t receive anything by then. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement.

I made finalist! 34 ACT, 4.0 GPA, ranked 1/492, only 2060 SAT, 3 on Chemistry AP, 4 on English Lit AP, many EC’s but not a whole lot of community service, income <$52000. I think what really helped me was having 3 part-time jobs.

I have a couple questions. Does anyone who went through the whole process know if colleges that have been forwarded the Questbridge App through Regular Decision generally give these applicants full tuition or similar awards? I only ranked non-binding schools cause I really don’t want to be bound to anything, but there were a few that I would have ranked if they weren’t binding.

Also, I haven’t taken SAT II’s yet but will in December, and two of my ranked schools, Princeton and MIT, require them. Does it look really bad if I attach a letter explaining this, even though the deadline is November 1? I’ll include that I’m sending the scores directly to them when I register. I was going to take them November 6, but I need to retake the SAT I on that date for National Merit (college adviser strongly recommended I retake it and even though it is allowed to take it December for National Merit, they really really prefer if you take it before then).
