Official Questbridge National College Match 2010-2011

Thanks physicsnut! I actually went back and found it in my email trash, I can’t believe I missed something so important. And this whole time, I been checking my mail box frantically.

^I’ve actually done that a couple times too! You get so much junk college mail that sometimes important stuff slips through… glad you found it anyway

do you guys think it’s okay to apply RD for other schools if we did not apply to any binding schools for the match?

^For sure. You can even apply to RD schools if you had binding schools, you would just have to withdraw your apps if matched. But no need to withdraw if non-binding match, obviously

so we can definitely take advantage of the finalist status fee waivers already. awesome.

ive got another question. suppose i want to apply to usc, which i didn’t rank in the college match. can i apply through questbridge, so that the fee would be waived?

[QuestBridge National College Match - Regular Decision Table for Finalists](http://questbridge.org/students/post_match_finalists.html#s1q36)

^^^^

USC actually has an interesting way of doing it (since they don’t use the Common App). But yes, the fee would be waived.

Quick question, if I don’t get matched, can I use the common app for all my schools instead of the QB app, but still let colleges know that I am a QB finalist? I really think the common app is much, much, stronger.

Yeah. Just list QuestBridge Finalist on your honors and awards section of the CommonApp. That’s what I’m doing; my CommonApp is much stronger, too.

^Is QuestBridge Finalist a national or international award?

@ Luminouzz, I think it would be best classified under National.

Would you guys please explain to me why you think the Common App is stronger? I’m not making any arguments, just wondering why you think so.

Sure, I’d like to send in music supplements, report 12 EC’s, send more rec’s… plus for the QB app, most of the “why are you poor” spots are blank :(

Also, I got much stronger essays since the ones I’ve written in September

Oh ok thanks! Do you think we would be able to supplement our Common App/ USC app/ whatever app with the QB one? Personally, I like that we are able to send in three samples of writing for the QB one but dislike the fact that we could only list 5 EC’s. And also, would the fee waivers still apply?

Several of my friends are applying ED Columbia (not through QB) and have been able to use their Columbia IDs to check the status of their applications. I received my Columbia ID ~2 weeks ago, and the email said that on Nov 10, apps would be available for viewing. I can log in, but am unable to check my application status. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it because we’re applying through QB, and not ED? I need to make sure that they received all my stuff… :</p>

@TieIAm hmm i dont know. when i login it still says that it will show the status of my app after nov. 10, so everything is still the same for me.

wait, so essentially we can apply to as many QuestBridge affiliated schools as we want with all our fees waived? if so, then i want to apply to a bajillion of them…haha. well, not really.

@TieIAm - I’m having the same exact problem

@u2tiffanyxo - I was thinking the same but I realized that you have to pay to send your scores and css profile so it can get expensive.

ohh yeah thats true. thank you!

i have another problem ._. so in october, I ordered my SAT scores to be sent to the colleges. though, I took the november SAT math II. the scores wont be officially sent to the colleges until the nov score is released i think, which is on nov. 23. do you think this will affect my chances? if i ordered them in october, its still ok, right? because i have the confimation email but they havent been sent yet…

I had the same problem. Email the respective admissions offices: they may want an unofficial report.

thanks so much for your input!
