General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congratulations!!!!! Really excited. I was definitely not expecting an acceptance.

icypineapple37 he got waitlisted.

wow seems like the action is over and we still have ALOT of people who havent received any notification yet!!!
if you are the next poster, please post the time you got the email!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an illogical statement. If you're saying the overall acceptance rate is .05 and the OOS acceptance rate is .05, you're assuming an independence that doesn't exist.

What kinds of people receive "likely letters" before decisions officially come out? I was under the impression that only athletes only get those, but some guy (who wasn't an athlete) just wrote he got one before being accepted today. What would make an applicant more likely to be accepted than others that a school would send a letter to them before everyone else even knows anything?

* Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:
I actually wasn't really expecting admission to Stanford, to tell the truth. I didn't fully feel as if would fit in, and at the same time Stanford isn't high on my list. In fact, it was fourth, haha. I'm sincerely happy to know that my spot is taken by someone who truly wishes to attend Stanford. It's better that those who really wanted to be accepted were, instead of someone like me that would probably end up declining admission anyways. I'm definitely not bitter at all (actually I'm slightly happy that I got rejected so I wouldn't have to be making decisions and such) - because you know what, guys? I'll be at MIT this fall ;D
