That’s my plan. Got both Lehigh and Washington and Lee (from Virginia) today, should have received Bucknell’s.
Actually floored by Bucknell’s FA considering the previous packages I’ve received from other colleges. 10K for the Dean’s Scholarship and another 25K in a need-based grant, which shoots Bucknell down to something actually manageable for my parents.
How good is Bucknell’s fellowship program? Was recently accepted with it and received 20k annually plus a research stipend.
Obviously can’t speak for everyone, but the fellowship program has been great for my son. Over the summer he was sent a list with possible research projects. I think he had to pick his top 5 (there were LOTS to choose from). He got matched up with a professor who started communicating with him over the summer. From the minute he stepped on campus in the fall, he was conducting research with this professor. He stayed for the summer in a paid position to continue the research. He participated in two national Sociology conferences and, with the professors guidance, wrote a paper that is going to be published. He is only a junior.
This professor has truly become his mentor. She has taken a strong interest in my son and his future and wants to see him succeed. She introduced him to a professor in another field so that he could do research with that professor last summer (my son has a double major). I think the chance to develop such personal relationships with faculty is invaluable. The opportunities my son has had because of this fellowship have been incredible.
