Just got a letter in the mail. I saw a UPS truck driving by, and also saw that the mail had come in. Heh, the irony.

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2220 (740M/740V/740W)
[] SAT IIs: 800 Bio-M, 760 Chem, 720 Math2
[] GPA: 90 UW, 104 W
[] Rank: 48/386 (This did it)
[] Other stats:
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Awesome. Everyone who read them said they were excellent. My PLME essays connected Risk the board game, the tv show Hogan's Heroes, to medicine. Main essay was about how my two cousins living with me for almost 2 years changed me, made me more considerate of other peoples' needs. I put so much work into these.
[] Teacher Recs: Insightful and excellent, very good.
[] Counselor Rec: Didn't read.
[] Hook (if any): None
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: CT, USA
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Indian (born/raised in US)
[li] Gender: Male[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Sent an update letter about being selected for a selective summer internship at a pharmaceutical company, and also expressing strong interest. Strong upward grade trend. General Comments: My rank did it. I had awesome grades the last two years, but freshman and sophomore years screwed it up. I was really hoping my essays and recs and upward trend would offset that, but I guess not.

I can't say I'm not disappointed, it was my first choice school. But I'm already getting over it. I have 2 other Ivies pending, but I'm starting to expect the worst. But I realized it really doesn't matter if I get in or not, because I'll do great wherever I go. Good luck to the rest of you, congrats to all those who will be accepted soon, condolences to those who won't. And, I get to be the first decision in this thread!

[] Rank: Top 6-10% (14/171 I estimate)
[] Other stats: AP Calc 5, AP Phys B 5, AP Chem 5
[/ul] Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Probably average to below average writing, but the content was good. I threw a few specifics in to show that I did have a real interest in Brown
[] Teacher Recs: Didn't see them, but one I had for 3 years (and a few ECs) and one I had for 2 years, so probably good
[] Counselor Rec: Didn't see it either, but I talked with her about it so it highlighted the same stuff I did in my application (and who doesn't like consistency?)
[] Hook (if any): This isn't really a hook but I made a big deal out of how I took a course with juniors and seniors in eighth grade, AP Calc sophomore year, and independent study junior/senior, and how I learned to study by myself, etc.

I lack in ECs but I coach middle school intramural basketball and my interviewer was a coach, too, and I think I showed that I did that because I liked it, not just because I wanted it on my resume. General Comments: Hooray.
