Heys,

i was reading your post, and you stat's looked simialr like mine, except my SAT"S scores were lower (1320)...but i has wicked EC's and leadership positions, and i'm also Asian (Vietnamese). I'm suprised you didn;t get accepted and that i did. what was your hook? What made Wesleyan you first/top choice (even tho u lived in CA)? i'm having the hardest time deciding

any comments/suggestions would be great!
thanks:)
good luck on all the rest

(i'm pretty new at this CC thing) but my previous was for Sunkist184 :)

Decision: Accepted (phew!)

Stats:
SAT: 1320 (680math, 640 verbal)
SAT IIs: 710 Writing, 680 Lit, 640 Math IC
GPA: 4.0 (out of 4.3)
Rank: #1 out of 54(very small school!)
Other stats: AP scores: 3's on my Ap Lit & Lang, 2 on Ap Bio (not too proud of), a hardcore tennis player!, LOTS of Leadership positions, EC's, and Community Involvement

Subjective:
Essays: Turned out pretty good
Teacher Recs: 3-all great!
Counselor Rec: good
Hook (if any): A Lot of community involvement, continuing Tennis in college, showed high interest in the Arts also (theater and visual)-sent in some of my artwork and a self portrait of me
Location/Person: Springfield
State or Country: Mass
School Type: Small Charter
Ethnicity: Asian (Vietnamese female)
Major strength/weakness: tried to focus on these of the Arts and Community, great Recs, a very good Alumni interview...basically, i went all out and showed them that i was VERY VERY interested...i knew that mt SAT'S and Ap scores weren't too good, so did watever extra i could to make them look in another direction, and i think that helped a LOT!!

Congrats mydzungC! Wes is a top choice for me because since I also come from a small school, I was looking for a close-knit, supportive environment in a college. The students also seem happy to be there and even though Wes is small, it has soooo many opportunities. It was very important to me to have abundant research opportunities and to be strong in the sciences. Also, Wes is DIII for sports. Therefore, I might be able to play volleyball there. I wish I had contacted the coach sooner. I was going to wait till I heard my admissions decision from Wes. Most importantly, I've always wanted to get away from southern Cali and go to the east coast. The US is so big, yet southern Cali is sort of it's own isolated world. I want to get out there and explore a whole new environment. If you have time, I highly recommend reading "The Gatekeepers." That book made me truly fall in love with Wes. I wish I had shown more interest like you (the closest interviewer was 6 hours away), but now I still have a chance at the waiting list.

hi
how did you received your decisions?
i have higher scores in math & physics than mydzungC, but much lower to english (i'm an international, right?)
i have participated in many olympiads and received honourable mentions, but i think americans are not interested in the non standarzided tests
it's not fair because what we do in high school by ex in math classes is what u learn in college, and sometimes even more harder
i gave gre math and received a really pretty good score

I got wait-listed...
I don't have time to type out all my stats...
but I had a 1350, 720w, 680mIIc, baddd french sat II score. lol
Ummm about 3.6 uw gpa... several good ECs... and legacy cause my mom went there...
