^Are you going to be fencing at ND?

I want to fence in college. I did talk to the coaches several times, but I was not recruited by ND. ND is a great fencing team, placed 3rd yesterday at NCAAs. I was deferred from Yale in SCEA, and I am competitive for a spot starting for Yale (#14 in NCAA, coach does not recruit) but not ND. I am still waiting for Ivy decisions…

What made the difference? i wrote about interests and how my interests mirror ND’s mission (outreach etc). To me, it’s all about fit.

Accepted :)

D waitlisted. Same stats as everyone else on the list it looks like. She will let her spot go to someone else and go to another school that she also loved that gave her great merit aid. We couldn’t affor ND anyway. Too bad.

In response to "Back to the waitlist…I just want to remind all of you that roughly 70% of those who apply to ND are academically “qualified.” My S was waitlisted and ultimately accepted on the second round of waitlist admissions in May. He forfeited the application fee to his second choice school and is now a Dean’s List student at ND who has absolutely thrived in the environment. If you are waitlisted and believe in yourself, then keep the faith! "

This is very true. I was rejected way back in the day (2003) but transferred in the next year and graduated in the top 10% of my class at Notre Dame (Magna Cum Laude). If you don’t get in it doesn’t mean that you aren’t smart enough, and it doesn’t even mean that you won’t get a degree from Notre Dame

What an encouraging email. My son was accepted at ND…but rejected at Georgetown…he was ranking Gt as his #1…I am thinking he is meant to be at ND.

I got in, Southern Ca, on Saturday

Congratulations to all who got in!
To everyone else: I am sure a great and amazing university will be thrilled to have you! Good luck!
D will be visiting Vandy, WashU and Bowdoin soon to make her final decision.

My D is a freshman at ND and loves it. She got accepted at ND (33 ACT and made Dean’s List) but waitlisted at BC and Duke. The acceptance process doesn’t seem to be predictive or rational. Good luck to all! On your ND campus visit stop by Ryan Hall (beautiful dorm!) and say hi to my D.

Accepted to Mendoza!

In my supplement essay, I talked about how I’m very self motivated and strive to achieve the best. I have a strong moral conscience and feel that I need to work hard in order to be worthy of the privileged life that I now have. My regular essay is about my poverty which resulted in me appreciating and being thankful for everything that I have now.
I selected to send my latin teacher’s rec online to ND, so I think that mustve helped as well. Now I don’t know which b-school to attend. NYU stern, Cornell’s AEM, or Mendoza(these are my top choices)?
