Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 1450 (760M, 690V)
[] SAT IIs: 760 IIC, 750 Chem, 670 Writing
[] GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.24 weighted
[] Rank: school doesnt give #'s... top 2% tho
[] Other stats: lots of ECs
[/ul][ b]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: good/deep
[] Teacher Recs: They never got my teacher recs, had to eventually fax a ghetto one (not even a college rec) ...did that like a week ago so apparently recs didnt matter much for me
[] Counselor Rec: Very Good
[] Hook (if any): I was the California Boys' State Attorney General in 2004
[/ul]
Location/Person:**[ list]
[] State or Country: California
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Black
[] Gender: Male
[] major strength/weakness: I had extra-curriculars up the wazoo ...particularly with sports (3 varisty sports + captain etc)
[li] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered:
[/li]

My interview went GREAT with Yale... I believe i am not the typical yale applicant, and i'm sure that was reflected in the letter my interviewer sent. Im sure many people will blame my acceptance on the fact that im a Minority, but im in an affluent area so it didnt help me as much as it would a minority in Oakland.

I had almost zero volunteer work, just a paid Civil Engineering Internship.

I believe i owe my acceptance to my array of Extra Curriculars, and my interview. Again, my teacher Recs had almost no impact on my decision since they lost them TWICE.
[/list]Other Factors: none

Hi all (especially EAers),

Once again, I am procrastinating. I have already recieved a ton of acceptances from great colleges, including Amherst, Middlebury, Dartmouth, and Georgetown, and Swarthmore; so schools like Brown that aren't on the very top of the list I'm not too anxious about.

But, Yale (and now Princeton, I had to diversify after the sadness of EA rejectino) is finally up. I think I may wait a day or two.

For everyone else, congratulations to those who got in so far (especially suburbian, EncomiumII, and lindseylujh). For those who are rejected, I am sooo sorry.

brjwh and Harpingchic, I was very sad when I saw that you didn't get in. I hope you find a school just as wonderful to go to.

Now to wait........................................

Decision: REJECTED. THIS SUCKS.

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 1480 (700V 780M)
[] SAT IIs: 770 2C, 740 Writing, 730 USHist
[] GPA: ~3.9 uw, not sure exact though
[] Rank: top 5% out of 250
[] Other stats: Nat'l Merit Finalist, 4 Golds on Nat'l Latin Exam
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: great, really expressed a focus on Classics/Latin
[] Teacher Recs: Excellent
[] Counselor Rec: Excellent
[] Hook (if any): none
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: VT
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: M
[] major strength/weakness: strengths were recs and focused essays, weakness was that I'm just like most everyone else who applies to Yale, top-notch board scores, stellar grades, lots of ECs, internship research, captain/leader of sports and clubs, and white as milk.
[li] why you think you were rejected: uhh... It's Yale! Plus nobody ever contacted me for an interview and I had some problems with the online application.[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Yale was along with Stanford my numero uno. Why I had to like two of the toughest schools in the nation to get into the best of all, I dunno. Yale is a great place though, and for those of you who were accpeted, PLEASE attend, especially if you also get into Harvard. I wish things had turned out differently, and it's not looking good for Stanford now either. Oh well. Life goes on.

Decision: Waitlisted

Stats:[ul]

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Florida
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: African American
[] Gender: Female
[] major strength/weakness: my academics, ecs, and essay were probably my strengths.....my weakness was probably my test scores since they are on the low end of the scores Yale usually gets
[li] why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: b/c i was oh so qualified, but there just wasn't enough space for me :{[/li][/ul]Other Factors: I'm kind of glad to be waitlisted (although i would be happier if i was accepted). I know i'll still end up somewhere great but i really wanted Yale. Oh well,..I was good enough to be waitlisted......that's something. :{........CONGRADULATIONS to everyone who was accepted, though!!!

S was rejected, but accepted to Harvard. Stats on Harvard board.
