mytra--that's crazy bad luck. Your stats are stellar.

Citrusbelt,

Thanks for the info, but I think you missunderstood me, so let me be a bit more clear. It isn't as though I hadn't researched Bryn Mawr and know nothing about it. It just wasn't my personal top choice, so I hadn't looked into it as fully as my other colleges and had certain reservations about it. However, now that I'm beginning to hear back from colleges and where I'm going is beginning to become more certain, I want to know as much as I can about the place and the lifestyle.
As for the classes.. I've been in the IB program for the last two years, which you all know is not all like a typical Indian system. So I am quite used to the system.
And for the visits.. I would absolutely have loved that opportunity, but flying to the US is expensive enough so I can't do it just to look at my colleges. And I have final IB exams in May.. so April is study time :(

BTW, Bryn Mawr is not need-blind for anyone. They meet 100% of need, but it's need sensitive. Google it, there's a article in the Bi-Co newspaper about it. I think they typically use the waitlist for students that are acceptable but they don't want to pay for them.

Wow, really!? NOW I'm shocked that I got in.

squaregirl- me too!!! I'm so excited, my mom and I are planning a trip there for the open campus days on April 19 and 20. We're thinking of staying at one of the alumnae houses, I can't wait! I can't believe they wait-listed mytra! I have like 660 points less then her and got in...I'm speechless right now, I guess it's not all about test scores!

mytra- I'm bowing down to you right now. your a goddess. lmao :)

I am so excited for the open house...anyone else going? I want to stay with a student overnight but now I have to find a hotel for my mom. Where are other people's parents staying? I'm not that familiar with the area so I'm unsure where to look

englishivy-- i can't wait either!! although my parents are unsure if they should come. heres the list of nearby hotels:
Bryn Mawr College | Accommodations in the Area

are a lot of people's parents coming to the open campus thing?

my mom is coming just because we have to drive 8 hours to get there. they have events/meetings for parents. plus i think they want to get a feel of where their money will be going for the next 4 years haha

me too! my mom and I are trying to find a bus that will take us to NY then a bus to philadelphia or around the area. Where planning on staying at the alumnae house, check it out! It only costs 119 + tax per night!

Have you reserved a room in Wyndham yet? They don't have a lot of rooms and they fill up very quickly for big campus events.

im going to as soon as I can b/c my mom and I have to make plans on the buses we're going to take and everything..I cant wait! :) , i cant believe this...and a couple months back I thought I wasnt going to get in, now Im counting the days to visit.

I knew I was accepted on Thursday, but I couldn't find out my aid till today because my phone was my only access to the Internet and it wouldn't let me log in to my BMC account... but DAMN, this makes my decision so much harder. Almost $41,000?! That's crazy!

Ugh. I got rejected from Vassar today, but I'm still waiting on Barnard and Wellesley, and if I get accepted to either of those my decision is going to be MEGA hard because I really like them both. Right now, it's basically between Smith, Oberlin, and Bryn Mawr, with Smith and Oberlin tied for first. I hope to visit Bryn, though... I don't know too much about it except that it is, indeed, a good school, and the aid is the best I've gotten so far.

Oh, college. It's weird enough to be accepted--now I have to choose!

kokakola- I feel you on that! When I saw $43,013 I cried...i never seen so much money in my life on behalf of my education..its insane..but Im going to visit. no doubt! :)

superwoman, I stayed at the Wyndham House at Bryn Mawr with my mom when I interviewed there this summer! It was wonderful, suchhhh a beautiful place to stay, literally right on the BMC campus, lovely and personal staff, yummy breakfasts, everything...it's great :)

In response to the rest of this thread...Oh, man. I was accepted, but my aid is not great--$13,600 in all, with just $6,000 in grants. I don't know, I mean, I have a twin brother who's also going to go to an expensive school, and I got a Smith STRIDE and an MHC 21st Century Scholars award thing, so those look a little more attractive.

College admissions and financial aid are ridiculous and crazy emotional. I just got in to Wellesley, which I'm insanely happy about, but the aid was the least I've gotten from anywhere, including Colby. It was seriously half of what Bryn Mawr gave me! I think I might contact both fin aid offices and see if there's anything they can do...slim chance, I know, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. Then there's the whole waitlist-or-not decision, because I was basically accepted to four women's colleges and Colby, and waitlisted everywhere else (Midd, Bowdoin, Swat, Williams...).

OK, sorry. College rant. I'll stop. Congratulations to all of you who got in to Bryn Mawr! I can't honestly tell if I'll go yet, but I'm sure those of you who are will have a fabulous experience!

LaMaripozaAzul- Thanks for the response! And Congrats on all your schools! What a decision you have to make! Smith & MHC are AMAZING schools too, g luck! :)

p.s. Don't apologize for college rant, we all DESERVE to rant once in a while lmao. :)
