Mmm, thanks for sharing, Boss51! Yet another reason to choose Smith. :)

Also, you’ll either live in a house with a dining hall or a kitchen. So as long as you make friends with people who have houses with kitchens, you can make food! (Speaking from experience here. It’s 1:36 AM and my friend and I just finished eating a second dinner of pasta in her house’s kitchen. Also my girlfriend and I celebrate people’s birthdays by cooking them food in her house’s kitchen. Just saying.)

My friend just got an early admission!

I love how informative and helpful the parents and students of Smith are~

Same here! Happiness is too confining of a word to describe what I’m feeling.

You got one? Congrats!

My friend lives farther from Smith than I do, so hopefully there is more than one batch!

Wow! Early admission, huh? Congrats, that’s so exciting! :D

So anyone else got an “early write?” It’s through snail mail so it might take a few days more for some people.

Not over here, but I live close to Smith (one state away) so I think it would have reached me before it reached my friend in Florida.
Oh well, hoping for the best come March :)

Best of luck, CPUscientist3000! ^^

Does anyone know when Discovery Weekend is?

Thanks!
last year’s date was april 14-15.
no schools have publicly released their dates yet, only available to admitted early action/decision students.

Ah. Maybe I can predict it correctly?—or an EDer can same me the trouble. xD

Accepted :)

Congrats CPUscientist3000! I guess your letter did just come late.

Thanks sooo happy!

Congratulations of getting an “early write”. As I mentioned before I am a computer science-graphic/digital art double major. The quality of the teaching, facilities and people in the computer science and digital/graphic art is fantastic. I hope you will join us at Smith College. If I can answer any other questions please PM me.

That’s awesome! Congrats :)

Thanks!! I am pretty much decided (and conflicted) about Smith, STRIDE would seal the deal!!

For whatever its worth a substanial number of the “early write” receipents received both a telephone call and a written letter advising them that they had been awarded either a STRIDE or Zollman merit scholarship. The timing of this is usually during the early part of March so that those awarded these merit scholarships would have them in hand before the April 1 decision release date for RD decisions. There are about 10 Zollman Scholarships offered and about 50 STRIDE Scholarships offered. If not accepted they are not made available to other admitted students. The primary difference between the two is that the Zollman offers more in merit funds. Both offer the fantastic opportunity to engage in a research project with a Smith Professor and there is an additional annual stipend awarded with the scholaship during the first two years at Smith. For those who are fortunate to receive either the Zollman or STRIDE it can be a tipping point where the receipent is trying to make a difficult decision on where to attend when the choices are between schools the applicant feels are closely matched or are offering similar educational opportunities.

I hope i get accepted at smith! I am an international student, regular decision applicant…the anxiety is killing me!

There are around 200-250 STRIDES awarded. About 50 accept.
