Other comments: UF was my backup, although I'd be happy enough to attend there because of Bright Futures. I also got accepted to MIT after being deferred early action; I'll probably go there if the finaid works out.

Wow, congrats on acceptance to MIT. Don't go to UF. Trust me, MIT is worth the extra 45k. You'll hate UF.
It's kind of cool that there are three people on here from Naples: me, amandatraci, and otw. I always thought that I was the only one.

Either my school didn't send the transcript or UF lost it. Either way, my application to UF somehow got cancelled. Good thing I got into Caltech...

michael stop bashing UF! the majority love it there. why did you even apply?

i am happy for you though. a full ride to penn state, that's amazing. not that i'm surprised.

i think some other people from naples read CC, they just don't post.

bomb bradenton--something doesn't sound right. did you call to ask why you were rejected?

Regarding UF and MIT....My son goes to UF and I am an MIT grad. I have no issues at all with the quality of his education versus the one I received. Just a data point.

That's very good to know, rogracer!

great EC's and recs
essays sucked because i did them literarlly in 2 minutes and 14 seconds (the first one) and 2 minutes and 27 seconds (the 2nd one)

i won't be going, though. i was accepted at william and mary, university of michigan-ann arbor with scholarship, and university of virginia. and i was waitlisted at cornell. i'm just lucky my family can pay/is willing to pay for my education. but for all you kids out there going to uf, it's still a great school and you really do get your bang for your buck.

p.s. i'm from central florida. 407 winter park represent

There is really no need for UF bashing, hiding behind anonymity notwithstanding.

You will never know whether you would cross path with any gator in the future. Don't burn your bridges, a moment of indiscretion can come back to haunt you. Be constructive.

That said, go gators!

IvyHopefulDad, Is your son going to UF? How could you have graduated ten years ago? I saw that on another post.

Arilmada:

I thought I said "more than 10 years ago". Anyway I was at Grad school then. My S was then just at kindergarten and had many years of memory of Lake Alice and Cory Village where we stayed. So looks like he will relive his memory yet again.
