Male from Cali babyyy

My CalPoly GPA seems to suck =X

I agree with NTS17, you both look very good.
I’m not so optimistic for freesnowcone; architecture is Cal Poly’s crown jewel and very difficult to get into. Your numbers are a bit low.
redfedira711 also looks very good; well above the average admittance scores for previous years. BTW, forget the SAT II and EC stuff. They don’t matter @ Cal Poly.
Good luck to all.

I’m applying RD for a major in biology
ACT: 28
W GPA: 4.0 (school doesn’t do UW)
Cal Poly GPA: I think around a 3.8
Male from Illinois

@gotpeter
how bout architectural engineering is that less competitive??
i applied to cal poly pomona architecture also (civil engineering alternative major) what do you think my chances are there??

The Cal Poly rejection thread from last year is making me really anxious.

Female from So Cal
Cal Poly GPA: 4.29 W (3.98 unweighted)
SAT: 1430/1600 (700 M 730 CR)
Major: Bio, Alt Major: Animal Science  (kind of stoked about that one.)

Ah, too bad they don’t factor in any EC’s or essays. The whole “admission by numbers” system doesn’t really appeal to my likes. I applied day one to Poly SLO, since I just fell in love with their campus… best of luck to us all.

I sure wish I could get my daughter to fall in love with their campus! Sigh. Was school in session when you visited? We went in the summer when it was fairly empty, so she didn’t have the opportunity to see an active student body or experience any of their extra-curricular fun.

I just read it and I can understand. Yikes! Gee, according to some of the posts, it doesn’t look promising for my daughter since she doesn’t a have a HUGE amount of work experience, but even more so, she checked NO when it asked if was related to her major. In retrospect some of her ECs are related, but she’s always in such a hurry, she didn’t really stop and think about it before hitting the submit button. I’m sure her decent stats and GPA will be embraced by another school. And, heck, who knows what Cal Poly will say in the end. All we can do is wait.

@freesnowcone
I have heard that arch. eng. is somewhat less competitive but to what degree I have no idea.
I think your chances are better at Pomona but hang in there with SLO.
Ya just never know :)

I went this September, while class was in session. There were people milling about everywhere, and when I went into downtown SLO the coffee shops were full of students. The people seemed very active and lively… I haven’t a clue what the school looks like on weekends though.

Major Applying to: Industrial engineering
CSU GPA: 4.0
ACT Composite: 24
What are my chances?

Do I qualify as “regular decision” as a transfer? Ah well, stats!

Current school: UC Riverside
Junior transfer
College GPA: 3.94/4.00
SAT (Math + Crit.): 1490

I haven’t actually been to SLO, but I’m pretty sick of the city of Riverside and I feel like it might be worth a transfer. I’m also a computer science major, so from my understanding SLO is much stronger than Riverside.

Bringing this back for us…ahem…Regular kids.

Deferred from ED
Graphic Communications
CSU GPA: 3.5
SAT: 1220 (560 M + 660 CR; 680 W)
21+ Weekly Hrs. Extracurriculars
1-5 Weekly Work Hours, related to field of study
Listed Newspaper (and slipped in “Editor” in parentheses…) under Non A-G Courses.

Hopefully this round will go well. People tell me RD is slightly less selective than ED, so I hope that holds true this year.

Cal Poly is my first choice college for architecture,
GPA (W): 3.97
SAT: 1320/1600
SAT with writing: 2020
570 hours of volunteer work

Ugh I’m really worried!

i sent an email changing my major to mechanical engineering…

I’m going to freeze myself and be unfrozen in march.screw waiting

I sent an email changing my major to food science. =D
