*Official Regular Decision Class of 2018*

<p>Only a couple more days until the decisions come out for Regular Decision! </p>

<p>I remember it is April 1st…</p>

<p>@JasperTraum, please read the other thread, there is more information regarding release date. If you look at historical data, decisions have been out early to mid March.</p>

<p>Ahh I freaked out when I saw this and thought they were out :(</p>

<p>So any one know when is it?</p>

<p>Next Friday should be the latest/most likely. Maybe earlier if we’re lucky.</p>

<p>They released ED decisions on like a Wednesday this year… so hopefully they won’t wait until Friday to release these decisions!</p>

<p>Decisions for ED Class of 2018 were released Monday, Dec 9, 2013. </p>

<p>So it can be released on Mar 17?</p>

<p>According to other threads, people who called the admissions office were told that it’s “sometime this week.” So we don’t have much longer to wait!</p>

  • Applied for Financial Aid?: No
  • Intended Major: Political Economy
  • State (if domestic applicant): FL
  • School Type: Public with high-performing IB program inset
  • Ethnicity: White
  • Gender: F
  • Income Bracket: do not need FA
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Absolutely none, except from what I gather for WashU maybe not needing aid was a plus?</p>

<p>Reflection

  • Strengths: 36 on ACT, very passionate about my ECs, essay was great - my CA essay was about an activity that probably made me stand out. Not a sport or anything that could sway my decision or bring attention to the university, but it was funny and probably made me memorable because I doubt many teenagers do it.
  • Weaknesses:
  • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Strong academic base for my application with a great essay on top.
Where else you are applying or have already applied: Accepted to UVA and UNC OOS, as well as London School of Economics and Political Science (conditionally). Applied to 17 colleges so I won’t name them all, but still waiting on Stanford, Yale, Penn, Northwestern, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, and UChicago.</p>

<p>General Comments: I didn’t expect this at all! Congrats to everyone who was admitted!</p>

Essays: Common App essay was one of the worst I’ve ever written; I didn’t proofread, so there were errors and poorly worded sentences. It was also not well developed, as a whole. The supplemental essays, however, were very good, and displayed genuine interest and ambition

Counselor Rec: 7, good and expressed qualities, but seemed a bit generic

Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Indian
Gender: Male
Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate): Upper Middle (200k-ish)
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None
Reflection
Strengths: SAT, Acadec, Teacher Recs, grades
Weaknesses: Indian male, applied for FA (have a brother in college so definitely need some help), essay wasn’t great
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Not too surprised based on the past waitlist numbers from WUSTL…thought I actually did a decent job showing interest with the scholarship application and the interview but that was probably neutralized by applying for FA (didn’t know WUSTL was need aware till after applying…not that I would have changed my status)
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Accepted: UT Austin Health Science Honors, Columbia (Likely Letter)
Waitlisted: WUSTL
Rejected: Nowhere yet but I was deferred from Stanford</p>

<p>Notes: WUSTL is not a safety school!! I had that sense very early in the application process possibly due to its relatively higher acceptance rate compared to some of the other schools I applied to. But I realized that was definitely not the case so I wanted to make that clear to anyone reading this. Probably won’t be accepting my position on the waitlist but we’ll see. Congrats to all who made it!</p>

<li>Interview: N/A</li>
</ul>

<p>Other

  • Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
  • Intended Major: Mathematics
  • State (if domestic applicant): FL

  • Ethnicity: Hispanic
  • Gender: M
  • Income Bracket: under $10,000
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM, First Generation, Very poor I guess? :p</p>

<p>Reflection

  • Strengths: I’m pretty sure my recommendations got me in, there were “best student in career” comments in both of them and my supplemental from the MITES program also said he had never seen a student progress so fast. I also think my essay gave them context as to how to consider my application. Coming from a severely underprivileged home could only help as well.
  • Weaknesses: I didn’t have many activities and extracurricular, but I guess my circumstance made up for that.
  • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Relatively strong academic background and really showing my passion for mathematics and computer science through my extra self-study and through my recommendations.
Where else you are applying or have already applied: Got accepted to UFlorida and a likely letter from Williams. Also waiting on several other schools like MIT (deferred), Princeton, Stanford, and uChicago.</p>

<p>General Comments: Didn’t expect to get in but apparently they saw more potential in me than I did xD. Super excited to possibly be a future bear!</p>

General Comments/Advice/Hindsight:</p>

<p>rejected. :frowning: so far, i’ve been rejected from upenn ed, notre dame ea, and this school. i am pretty much losing hope for all the other colleges i applied to. it’s not like i’m not a “strong” applicant; i have a 2100 sat score, am a coca cola scholar finalist, and will receive my associates degree in math & science along with my diploma this may. when i read my third rejection letter, i literally felt my heart hit rock bottom</p>
