momofnj this was HC’s advice:
[I’m on the Wait List. Now What? Admission: Not Impossible](http://admissions.me.holycross.edu/2010/04/07/im-on-the-wait-list-now-what/)

I wish her luck, there will be students not maltriculating, how many spots, I’m not sure. It would be in their common data site I think at least for last year.

@debruns

Thank you for your support and we hope this does work out in the end. She loved that school. At least she has wonderful options, we are very proud of her. Here’s hoping that it works to our advantage!

MomofNJ, don’t give up.
There are a lot of HC alums in the NJ area. If you know any, it might help to have one send a letter to admissions telling them all about your daughter’s great qualities. If you are involved in a church, maybe your priest/minister can send a letter. At the very least, your daughter should send another letter to admissions advising them HC is her first choice. She can use it as a vehicle to update HC on any accomplishments (academic, community service, athletic, etc) completed since November. My D’s friend was accepted off the wait-list last year and now attends HC. She is doing great academically and is very happy. I hope the same happens to your daughter.

FYI, according the Holy Cross Common Data Set for last year:
Number of applicants placed on the WL: 1,691
Number of applicants accepting a place on WL: 538
Number of WL students admitted: 19

Good Luck!

@westof128

I will take your advice and a big thanks! D is active in our parish so that may be of some help there. It’s comforting to know that someone did get off the list.

@ognyusa Thnks for the info but I already saw that and you are not very encouraging, especially since you already got your admission. Not very kind.

Some adivice.
Maybe there is a hs teacher who can write a letter about your daughter. But the letter would have to be different from whatever is already in her file, and it should be very strong. I agree with the advice from another parent regarding a pastor who might be willing to write a letter. Again the letter would have to be strong and touch on things that are not already in her application.

"What do you think chances are getting off waitlist? "

@momofnj - You asked the question so @ognyusa answering it with facts (rather than conjecture) should have warranted a ‘thank you’. Your comment was not necessary.

well I’ll assume that the poster was being helpful, although showing me the dismal stats felt hurtful, especially when you see your D disappointed. If I read him wrong my bad, feeling just a little stressed here as most parents of the class of 2015 are.

:( Get another letter to HC.

I can only second the “showing interest” part, they always like that, but with this, even more. It seperates her from the studlents that say Yes and then are silient.

As the parent of a D also waitlisted at HC (her second choice), I found ognyusa’s post factual and realistic, hardly mean-spirited. Since those students who do manage to wangle a spot off the wait list have no hope for financial aid, it’s clear that they are reserved for those with other resources. Congrats to the HC class of 2015…fortunately, my D was accepted at her first choice (with a decent aid package) and in hindsight, I’m secretly relieved that HC admissions made the decision easier for her.

Nickenzie , I also got wait-listed , but I got into my second choices. so it is all good. Congrtas to all HC class of 2015 !! :)
